Ruarc takes a final bite and sets his spoon down gently. "We, I, will help lady. I cannot speak for my friends as they are grown folk but this is what we came here to do. You seem to run a good post here, and your service to this area is much needed."

Faustus, Tiefling Avenger

"I cannot let you stand alone, friend Ruarc. He**, you're the only one of the bunch so far who gets my jokes!" The Tiefling favors the group with an exceedingly toothy smile, "I shall fight, and die if need be, at your side, friend." Faustus seems almost to relish the possibility of their untimely demise.

"Sounds like a bunch of misbegotten bullies to me," Ezmerelda says cheerfully around a mouthful of bread. "I suggest this month we give them what's left of who they send as tithe. You've got a good defensive spot here...walls and such. When the rest come in, screaming bloody murder, we'll show them the same exit we showed their fellows."

She grins. "We're here to explore AND deal with the bandits, y'see. It's all in the contract. So don't worry yourselves. We won't be leaving you high and dry."

Mari

"Worry not girl, we'll be waiting for those bandits." She turns to Elurian, "Perhaps a couple of us should be waiting out in the woods well before sunrise in case they don't all come into the trading post?" She focuses her attention on the whole group. "If no one returns at all they'll send more to see what happened and we can ambush them as well. Why go wandering about looking for them if we can make them come to us?"

The women sniffles a bit at Ezmerelda's words, turning to stir the pot as she regains her composure.

"That's good news, thank the gods. So you will have the afternoon and evening to get ready for them. Feel free to take a look around to come up with your plans. Oleg thought maybe you could hide in the stables or guesthouse and surprise them as they load up this month's "taxes", but you can probably figure out what's best for you." Svetlana says happily.

Ok, I'm heading out for the weekend. Feel free to discuss plans of your ambush amongst yourselves. I'd like to have a plan by Monday morning if its possible. I'll try to pop online once or twice to answer any questions you have. They can supply you with any basic tools you need. The catapults would take a skilled engineer to fix, and even then would take too long to be of any use for tomorrow. Also, the Levetons (Oleg & Svetlana) would object to flaming oils or other flammables being used for fear of fire burning down everything they've worked for. [/sblock]

"that is our purpose here," says the druid. "It must have been scary, but you will not need to submit to these bandits again. The Swordlords have sent us as a vanguard of making this land more civil, my personal goal is to maintain the best of both worlds here." The half-elf seems to be developing a vision of himself out here.
"Mari, I think that you are right. I will get to know the forest around here, it may be able to warn us of the bandits approaching. Are there others here that can make this place more defensible by tomorrow?"

The druid is resting his chin on his arm, lost in thought. :"I think that we should hole up in the fort, if we can make an escape route in case they fire the fort. I would like to get them to enter and then close the doors behind. We then deal with those outside later. Hmm ... but maybe we should split. The fort gate will naturally divide up the bandits into two groups. IF we had a secret or at least not noticeable way in and out, we could split two out and the rest in. I suggest that I can look like a harmless animal (OOC: are there monkeys here?). Maybe Ruarc or someone else tough could stay out with me?"

"Personally, I still favor Mari's plan, no offense intended toward the other plans."

Elurín asks teh couple, "Is there any kind of back way in or out or one that could easily be constructed so that we can go in and out but the bandits will be unlikely to notice?"

"There's no back way in that I know of and I don't know if one could me made easily, the fort's old, but its strong" Svetlana says.
