[Adventure] Kingmaker (DM:renau1g; judge: garyh)

[sblock=ooc] I would like to keep playing. I think that we are stuck because our IC group needs to have a policy about what we do during encounters. Are we cleaning out the jungle or are we just sweeping for bandits. Do we only fight in self-defense?
As for the game, I would like to continue. [/sblock]

Just an FYI, Mowgli will be needing to drop out of the game here as he's got RL business going on. I wanted to see what everyone's thoughts are here. We seem to have hit a wall the last while in the adventure and this might be a good time to talk about options going forward. We can continue with just 4, which would be 1 of each role. We could grab another PC to bump up to the expected party size of 5. Or we could call it a day here. If everyone's too busy for this game (and it's in an out of the way forum for Leif, Scotley and Shayuri) I'd rather put Old Yeller down.

So, feel free to PM, post here, or email me (my username at gmail) any thoughts you have.
I'm with HoM -- it's a good game and I always like Ryan's games, when we can get him to keep one going for very long, which hasn't happened too much in my experience. Old Yeller's still got a number of his favorite trees to visit, if you ask me! As far as getting a fifth or continuing with four, I have no real preference, but I will say that 4E seems to be forgiving enough to allow a party of four to succeed handily. As far as an 'out of the way forum' is concerned, I haven't even noticed since I'm subscribed to the thread and thus get a notice of every new post that's made. In short: DON'T KILL OLD YELLER! PLEASE, DADDY??

And btw, Mowgli is dropping EVERYBODY'S games! So you're definitely not the lone ranger there. He even dropped MY 4E game! Can you imagine the nerve of him??

renau1g: hey! My LEB game just wrapped up at 15 months and the other is about 18 months :p I can't even blame DeWar anymore ;)
I did say in MY experience, ya know! So far every game of yours I've played in except this one has wrapped up MUCH too soon! I never even got to level up a character before Faustus with you as DM! Of course, I can only think of one other character that I've had before him.... You know, the short guy, that Gnome Sorcerer whats-his-name. I've now channeled his spirit into my Halfling Chaos Sorcerer in Insight's 4E game. :p

I think that losing our defender will make us less kick ass. I will definitely miss Ruarc. I think that 4e can be fun whatever the party, but as a squishy I like the idea of being able to cast from behind a defender.

OOC: [sblock]I agree we don't have firm grasp of how we should deal with 'foes' like the radish eaters and that has a lot to do with the current slow down. I've also been a bit crazy with a RL issues. Things may be settling down for me, so I'm game to continue. As an almost exclusively ranged combatant, I'd say recruit another melee type and get us back up to 5. Let's find out who or what 'Old Sharptooth' is and see if we can enlist the Kobolds as allies for the time being. [/sblock]

OOC: Just a quick note, but Shay's Ezmerelda was the defender, Ruarc was a melee ranger, so along with Faustus the three would all be front line with Mari and Elurin providing support. I'll put out the word for 1 more melee PC.

Ok, so I have heard back from a couple people about an additional member.

2 people have offered up their PCs. 1 is a genasi (elemental creature) barbarian and the other is a re-flavored warforged (done as a wood woad) warden. The warden is level 3, the barbarian is level 1. An option is to take either of them or to take both. Both posters are historically reliable posters as I've DM'd for both in the past (and present :))

Let me know your preferences.

The Genasi wouldn't happen to be Mowgli, would it? He's the only player I can think of, offhand, who has ever played a Genasi in a game with me. But, then, considering that he's currently cutting back his ENWorld time, I doubt seriously if it is him. I'm good with either or both joining us. We could always use more help superivising Mari and Ezmerelda! ;)
Drat! Thought we were IN the OOC for a second there!

Y'know, a swordmage is a defender too. Hmph. :)

I admit though, I've been having some problems getting into the game. For myself, it's not the game itself...I'm just finding my character, Ezmerelda, is not working out the way I'd hoped. I built her to be a more of a seagoing sort. A brash buccaneer. That was a mistake, and I claim full responsibility, since nowhere was this game billed as "Brash Buccaneers at Sea."

I guess I read up on the Living Enworld setting and got caught up in it...made a character for it...didn't really think about the actual game.

So I'm not sure where to go from here. I can mosey on away if you like...or I can try to introduce a character more suited to the campaign.

I played an attacking air genasi swordmage in LFR. I really liked him more as a secondary defender since he could not hit real hard but the teleport across the battlefield and get in your mark's face was fun when it worked. That is why I tend to downplay the swordmage's role, sorry.
My character has a focus that is going to be interesting as the game proceeds. HE has a "mission from the fey" (as vaguely defined as that) to direct the inevitable civilization of the stolen lands in a way so that fey can still be have a place. renau1g and I may need to define this more as I may need to be doing diplomacy with the fey as this game progresses. I did not know the fey were going to have this big a role when I came up with my backstory.
