"He should be put to death or held here until he can be turned over to the authorities. Probably more merciful to put him to death here, and cleanly; plus there's no chance of him escaping and returning to his marauding that way."
[sblock=OOC]As we know that banditry is a big part of the AP (at least of this first installment), and as it looks like this could become a bone of contention for the party, I think I need to explain Ruarc's position so we can keep the RP separate from RL.
Ruarc doesn't really hate the bandits anymore; he's made his peace with what happened to his family. But he does recognize their menace, and his personal mission is to eradicate banditry from the River Kingdoms and the Stolen Lands. He doesn't torture them, and he's not interested in revenge.
And it's not a question of the law, he was hunting them down and killing them before we got this charter. Regardless of the law, if they were targeting the nobility with their banditry he might (eventually) be persuaded by Happ's plight, but they're not. They're targeting common folk, who are presumably suffering under the same repression they are. So they need to be eradicated.[/sblock]
