Adventure:Land Ho! FWBTHW (DM:H.M.Gimlord,Judge:Ozymandias79)

[sblock=WD]FYI: There are no dead bodies...yet. Searching "dead bodies" was just an example of things you must explicitly state during the course of the dungeon crawl. Sorry to be so confusing.[/sblock]
[sblock=ooc]Oops, I thought J -19 to be dead bodies . Changed above post.[/sblock]

[sblock=WD]Ah. J-19 and H-18 are bed pallets. I'll add the fluff below to avoid confusion.[/sblock] Riardon inspects the campsite, and sees that what he thought was a pair of dead bodies is actually a pair of badly soiled bed pallets around a smoldering camp fire.

In the camp fire is some partially eaten meat that has long since passed its date of freshness, and a few strange implements that he guesses were for tending the fire. He also finds a small cylinder with glass at either end, evidently a crude spyglass. Though there are two pallets, there is only one set of tracks in the sand leading back to where Gensai is standing. The sentry must have been alone at least as far back as the last tide.

Embarrassed, the warlord returns to the group.

Riardon

"Nothing to see there. Let's get back to this 'wall'." Riardon says upon returning and searches the wall the trail ended with his magic and mundane senses.

Using sunblade to get enough bright light. Also, dealing radiant damage unless saying otherwise.

OOC: ooc: How much time would it take to take 20? (Was this still possible in 4e?). Riardon is sure that there is something, so he would want to try again at last.

Gensai stood at the wall, still studying it when the warlord returned. "I don't see the triggering mechanism, but there must be a door here," Gensai said, touching the wall at different places. "About how tall would you say that creature was?"

He also looked around for a trigger elsewhere: something out of place, or a different pattern. He also checked the prints again, comparing the stride just before the wall to the prints at the door, to see if they gave hint of body motion just before entering.

OOC: I imagine taking 20 would take 20 minutes of "game time" (hence the name). 4E allows for this. It's actually in the DMG somewhere. You're welcome to scour the beach and the area for a more thorough description.

I encourage you to be as specific as you can as to what you are looking at and how you are looking. Use coordinate locations if necessary (heck, even if not). This will lend itself to more meaningful and targeted answers.

Think Tomb of Horrors. This will not likely be anywhere near as good as that, but I would like it to be played the same way, i.e.: Everyone posts each turn before I update. This way I'll be sure to capture everyone's actions, and combat (if any) will flow naturally.

OOC: Would any of you feel comfortable NPCing Mervin until he returns?

I would prefer that his role be played by a player rather than the DM.

In any case, It's been 3 days, and I've not heard from BB or Theroc. If they don't post by tonight, I'll assume that the group is going to take 20 of the area and attempt to find the secret door. I'll roll perception for those who haven't posted.

"Make sure I don't do something I'll later regret," Gensai said, as he searched the area for the secret door.

OOC: How about take 20 for secret door and traps in the general area of the secret door. I don't trust you, HMG. :P
