Amatali smiles, "Well, I hope I've been able to help you. You've certainly entertained me with your stories, and I do hope you get to the bottom of this." He sees the group to the compound gate, and watches as they walk down the street.

[sblock=Riardon and Gensai]As you leave, you sense that Amatali is slightly nervous, like he is relieved that you are leaving.[/sblock]

The alchemical shop is not far away, and the four adventurers find their way inside. A haggard-looking, yet young man, covered in tattoos, stands behind the counter, "May I help you?" Luckily, there are no other customers in the shop, because the man behind the counter starts to look around suspiciously when Riardon asks where magic items may be purchased. He hurriedly gestures for you to follow him through a doorway behind the counter. When the last member of the party files in, he rounds on all four, "I don't know who you are, or who told you about me, but whatever you heard is..." he pauses, suddenly realizing that you are definitely neither constabulary material, nor ruffians. Smiling with gold in his eyes, he stoops down and feels along a base board in the floor and lifts a section of planks that have been pegged together, "...right here. Follow me."

He leads you down a ladder to a hidden cellar where various items sit on shelves and racks.[sblock=What you see]Retributive Javelin +1 Lvl 4 (840gp)

Fenwick's eyes go wide at the goodies in stock. "Boots very nice and useful. Oooh, and armor too."

[sblock=ooc]Two items from my wish list here. Did we actually get any treasure out of that last encounter?[/sblock]

Riardon

"Good items, but not exactly what I was searching for..."
Riardon says. Then, he picks up a whetstone.
"If applied to a throwing weapon, will it return like a regular magic one?"

[sblock=OOC]

Riardon was looking for a simple magic +1 javelin, without extra effects, for it's returning property. It should be a reserve weapon. The powers of this javelin would be a total waste. I'm also looking to replace his hide with an eladrin chain armor...

While in the store, in moments of waiting, Gensai addressed the others quietly. "I think that tall man is suspicious. He may well be in on the kidnapping, and the rouse to cover it up, given how much he knew about the smith, and his... fidgety manner. We should alert at least the watch captain to this suspicion before we leave."

"Also, even if we took a boat, it would be days ahead of any coach. I'm leaning toward taking a chance with the scroll and seeing where it ends up."

"Well, what exactly are you looking for? I'm sure I can find it for you."

Riardon explains that he was looking for a magical javelin, but something more simple than the one on display. Sworc rolls his eyes and disappears into a chamber off to the side of the cellar that looks like a closet in which one would store linens. There's a great deal of racket and clattering before he emerges from the closet with a javelin in his hand, "I think this might do for you. I don't keep it out because its...well... so unimpressive." He scratches his head, handing javelin to Riardon, as if disappointed at the Warlord's mundane taste. "I'll let you have it for three hundred, on account of it being a little beat up, and I don't think anyone else will want it," he stifles a laugh, "Heck, maybe it will give your enemies tetanus as well."

Rolling his eyes back at Sworc, Riardon takes the weapon to examine it. As he does, something catches Riardon's eyes that he didn't notice before. As Fenwick lifts the boots to inspect them, they appear to have been placed upon a folded hauberk of mail that shines with a brilliant, intrinsic light. The glow in the rings gives one the impression that the hauberk may disappear at any moment.[sblock=New Stuff]Ordinary, rusted, bent, dented :), yet magical Javelin +1 Lvl 1 360

Don't worry, the fine print above is just fluff. It's a good javelin .[/sblock][sblock=All]I know that some of you are disappointed, and justifiably so, at having to buy your items, especially after having survived what you've survived, but I promise that my foot dragging is for a purpose. I'm building up to something, and that will mean that I'm going to be doling out treasure in a rather weird fashion for a while. Please bear with me.[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc]I'd be a lot less disappointed if I actually had the money to buy more than one of these things. The reason I asked about the last encounter was that if my accounting is right, I've only got 527 GP on hand, which isn't even enough to buy the Skald's Armor. I don't object to having to buy my items, as long as there's the money to do so. Could you look over my sheet and see if I've missed any cash handouts? Thanks.[/sblock]

"My masters, I require nothing else for the journey ahead. The coin I still carry is at your disposal."

[sblock=BB]I can loan you 363 gp until our next treasure drop.[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]Sorry to bait you like that. I didn't realize that you did not yet have at least 680 gp. My bad. I didn't intend to make your mouth water and deny you what you saw, but consider it a foreshadowing (). *Edit* In any case, I believe you have made a math error, underestimating your wealth. Looking at your character sheet, you should have 557 (not 527) on hand. Also, you seem to have forgotten your share of Jahred's reward of 175gp for breaking the thieving ring. This would put you at 732gp. Still not enough to get both the boots and the armor, but enough for one or the other with change to spare. If Gensai loans you what he has offered, you could possibly get both :o.[/sblock]
