[Adventure] Lost Love (DM: Velmont - Judge: Renau1g)

Talkrai steps aside at her request, eyes still on the intruders.

[sblock=ooc]Sorry guys, but since none of us have any wine, I'm afraid that I'm out of ideas on this riddle, at least until something changes.[/sblock]

Unit 16 scoop a seventh time water in the bowl, without any change to the behavior of the bowl.

As Ryda move, the group hear a voice coming from upstairs "I've brought the worker as you have asked... what do I do?"

"You stay there and wait and tell our worker to relax. We will not need him for now, our new friends have understood where lie their best interest." replies the gnome.

Ryda grabs the shield and walk up to statue. She then put the shield into the bowl and look is she can take some acid. The first thing she saw it is she is unable to remove any liquid from the bowl. It's like if the acid was unsubstantial. She the find another thing odd. Where her arrowhead had been quickly eaten by the acid, the shield have been damaged but the acid seems to affect the shield much more slowly than the arrowhead.

16 keeps scooping water into the bowl.

[sblock=ooc]Yeah that's interesting, Mez. I guess technically enemies don't go by the same rules as PCs (they typically don't have healing surges, for example), but I think the rule for PCs would be that after a 5-minute rest, any non-dead warforged would be able to get up with at least 1 HP (or more if they spent a surge). That's always been my backup plan, anyway. :)

Also interestingly, it made me wonder how Unit 16 would feel about another warforged who was downed. He certainly doesn't like going unconscious and is capable of pity, but I guess the "this is the enemy" mindset hasn't quite been broken on him yet - and it's not like he hasn't killed other warforged before (backstory). He certainly finished off the owlbear to make sure it was dead, but honestly he respected the owlbear much more than these guys. Eh. I guess it'd still be part of the "natural" order to him: the strong live, others die. Life goes on. Frankly, he really would just kick their bodies in the river if we didn't have all this other stuff going on. It's just practical.[/sblock]

Actually all monsters come equipped with 1 surge per 10 levels. They just don't come equipped with a way to use them.

Is Susan not pausing in the action to allow Ryda to act, or is he starting again after the shield test?[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc]However we want to do it is fine. 16 can pause and then start back, or whatever. I don't think these actions can't be done in tandem.[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]well, Ryda wouldn't have tried with 16 in the way, but since there isn't the option for splashage, I see no reason it can't progress "nearly" simlultaneaous.[/sblock]

Glad to see that the threat of immediate combat - or escalation of the hostage situation - seems to have relaxed, Jarren watches patiently as the acid in the bowl is gradually diluted. At the results of Ryda's test with the shield he nods with the satisfaction of fulfilled expectations. "Seems like we're headed in the right direction."

[sblock=OOC]I guess we can just fast forward with Susan adding water and Ryda testing with the shield (or other disposable objects) until the solution in the bowl produces no adverse effect on stuff poked into it?[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc]Since it's clear we aren't planning to start a fight right at this second, that works for me. I can't think of anything better to do.[/sblock]

After a few more scoop, Ryda put again the damaged shield and then, she see that the acid doesn't attack anymore the metal shield who remain unharmed.
