"Charlarn, would you like to get your pipes out?"

OOC: we ought to decide OOC how long we're going to wait. If nothing happens by a certain time -- no Kim, no Irene or Jezibel, no unwelcome surprise visitors -- our characters will decide we need to go out and look for them. How long a wait until they're likely to decide that?
Charlarn grins and pulls his panpipes from his pouch. "All I know are traveling songs. Is that enough? We should wait a while, but I'm not sure what we can do after dark."

Let's assume the trio sits down and to play and chat. After about an hour, Kim does return. He waves the characters away, and spends about 15 minutes conferring with Botha and the workers. You can overhear bits of conversation about caravans, inventory, and cranky customers. He then walks over to see you. "Hello. Did you want to see me?"

"Yes sir. We have run into a bit of trouble with the local thieves guild that you had warned might be a problem. This morning while on our way to breakfast we were ambushed. Prevailing against the thugs who thought to abduct Jezibel we knocked most of them out or captured them. Stabilizing their wounds we brought them to the nearest jail to hand them over to the law."

"There they claimed that we had ambushed them and called for their lawyer, apparently a Captain in the guard. When he vouched for the rogues, they were let go on bail. Quickly paying our way out too, we were told to return for the hearing. Following that we went to meet up with Irene and Jezibel who had continued on to breakfast. However they are no where to be found and things do not look good. The little bit of information gathering we tried, seemed more like we were giving them information than getting any. We thought it best to check in and see if you could tell us more about what we have gotten ourselves into."
Tenebrynn says, a little glad that the bordom of waiting for Kim is over. While his friends play great music, its just not his thing, especially in such a tense situation.

Kim looks incredulous. "You were ambushed by the agents of the Theives Guild?! Then took them to the watch?! They wanted to abduct Jezibel!?"

He furrows his brow, grips his chin and thinks for about a minute.

He shakes his head. "This is bad news. This Jezibel must be up to no good. Why would they want to abduct her? In any case, I suspect you are safe for the present, as long as none of your attackers died. They'll expect you to get your day in court. I suggest you split town, actually. You'll never win against them in court. It would be a shame to lose you guys. You really seem like exceptionally honest and capable people. Perhaps I can employ you outside of Monemvassia... What's your plan now?"

"Well we need to find our friend Irene. She was not where we were supposed to meet. That was the first step after getting your advice." Tenebrynn replies.

"Well, good luck. I would advice you not to oppose the guild. In general, they are organized and disciplined. And the lend an order to commerce in this city that the government does not. I hope you find your friend. Keep me posted."

Nurlan, having stopped singing upon the boss' arrival, had been listening to Tenebrynn and Kim, mostly passively, but not entirely poker-faced. When he heard

the keen observer might have noticed him twisting his lip. Maybe I was right all along, if someone familiar with the Guild's operations doesn't see any other reason why they might have business with her, he was thinking. Then when Kim said

he broke in. "Of course, we had not intended to cross the Guild. It was only after we had felled four out of five assailants that the fifth, fleeing the scene, told us that was who they were. But it appears there is no undoing that; even though Charlarn here healed the wounded, they showed no gratitude for our mercy. But tell me, have you any idea where Irene and Jezibel might have gone? We're thinking they might have been looking for us, since we were late, and they might not have known where to find us. Jezibel might have had ideas that the rest of us wouldn't know about."

"I have no idea where else they might have gone. I'll bet that Jezibel is up to no good. All the more reason to have you three around tonight. I hope you stick around a couple more days. The justice system is kind of slow. I suspect you have at least that long."

Inwardly, Charlarn feels vindicated for his decision to give aid to the group's attackers.

"Leave Monemvassia? We need to find Irene, first. If the guild's actions are normal, then we have to get to her first. I just hope Jezibel hasn't given her up to those thugs."

I don't mean to strand you all. There is more activity that will probably come to you, but not for a few more hours. So don't despair. Take some actions & one way or another, this will roll along...
