(Adventure) M1: Goblin Ears and the MTG (dpdx judging) COMPLETED

OK. I hope we're not getting off to a bad start. First, I appologize for forgetting about the goblin interrogation. It was an oversight, nothing more. As for the crossbow incident. I track combat very carefully on my spreadsheet, & Irene acted on all her turns. I didn't pursue it b/c the combat was over by then anyway. I should have said something, though. Anyway, I'll edit my previous post, three back, and let's proceed from there.

What are you going to do with the bodies?

Seeing that Irene is having trouble with the hobgoblins using her common, Tenebrynn will offer to act as an intrepretter, using his knowledge of the goblin language. He pulls out his knife and one or two of the goblin ears to trim some of the excess flesh off of them, hoping to scare the hobgoblins into talking. Then he relates any questions Irene has to the hobgoblins and likewise translates the bandit's responce should they prove more talkative.

As far as bodies are concerned, Tenebrynn suggests that they pile them out of site of the road so that no other travellers are bothered by the site.

Charlarn agrees, "Yes, I think that'll do. I can do that while you're talking to the hobgoblins."

OOC: The goblin bodies, right?

Irene, annoyed by the lack of reaction from the hobgoblins, does as she said. She cuts one ear off, making her point a bit more clear. When Nurlan comes to translate, she says: "I'm really not in the mood for going easy on these creatures, and if they don't understand what I mean by that, I'll demonstrate it once more."
Again, puts her dagger on a (still attached) ear, and looks pretty pissed off.
"Tell us everything we want to hear... you still have 3 chances left."

hobgobins

The hobgoblin screams in pain as he ear is severed. Fear hits the other one’s eyes as well. “I can lead you!” He shouts in goblin. “I can lead you to our hideout!”

(OOC: That should be Tenebrynn coming to translate -- Nurlan speaks six languages, but Goblin isn't one of them. Yet.)

Anyone looking at Nurlan might sense that he's more than a little discomforted at the sight. It's not that he exactly pities the hobgoblins, but since they left Orussus he'd been imagining the party in the roles of the great heroes of whom he loves to sing, and in the songs it was never the heroes who carefully and methodically removed body parts from helpless prisoners. If the Heroes of Tagraj ever did anything like that, the bards let the matter be forgotten. The gritty reality of an adventurer's work is jolting.

Charlarn winces slightly in sympathy, but otherwise tries to maintain an impassive look on his face. He says, "So what should we do now? Should we go to the city first to release the fallen to their families?" He points to the maimed hobgoblin, "Or should we follow this one to the hideout?"

Nurlan has a grim look on his face. "I fear that if we attack their hideout now, we would be overwhelmed and slaughtered mercilessly. There are but four of us, and of average combat skills. But the battle must be taken to them. Perhaps if we go to town first we may be able to learn more about the situation, more about our possibilities. Who knows, there may even be other potential goblin-hunters we could join forces with. If nothing else, we may be able to talk to people with more ideas and more knowledge of the scale of this menace. Let us not be too quick to rush into battle."

[OoC: Yes, sorry, wrong name.]

"I guess you understand my language after all" Irene says, stashing the ear away. "First we're going to the city, then you can do whatever you said you will do. Or else..." Irenes eyes look threathening, and she makes a cutting move above on of the ears, but not making the cut. She turns away from the goblins, and walks back to the group. "Well, I think I found a way to persuade these goblins into talking."
