2 questions:

1) How can we lower the porticulis? It would be fun to do so while Ladoran is flying there.
2) Does Malehan spot anything that could ruin once and for good Ladoran ritual.[/SBLOCK]

1. The portculis is already lowered and preventing the PCs from leaving. To raise it would require finding the mechanism and cranking it up. From a casual glance at the moment, it looks like two hanging chains are coming out of the ceiling to the portculis itself.

What you have is:

where DOOR is the original doors that the group came through (it's currently a doorway since the doors are open). And the walls are only 15 feet high, so a PC could climb over either of the two side walls and exit (there is no "roof" to that small area between the walls, the doors, and the portculis). It'll just take an effort.

2. For a permanent disruption, determining that would take a trip over to the Altar and a standard action high enough Arcana check to find out.

The normal rules for rituals are:

"At any time before a ritual is completed, you can stop it and suffer no ill effect. You don’t expend any components or pay any costs until a ritual is completed. You can’t resume a ritual that was interrupted, however, so you do lose the time you spent on an interrupted ritual."

So, the current ritual is already disrupted. That doesn't mean that he cannot start it back up 10 seconds after defeating the PCs though.

Knoepf gazes at the taunting dragon in pure hatred. Your arrogance is your weakness dragon. He then steps back and notices that arce has fallen. Turning back to the Ladoran. You will pay for that! The cleric closes his eyes and begins to sing. When he finishes he opens his eyes...what he had hoped for doesn't happen. It is obvious that the Lady of the Silver Flame has her mind elsewhere. My Lady! Why have you forsaken me! Knoepf yells in anguish.


"Stupid Dwarf. Relying on a god who has more pressing concerns than to solve your petty problems. If you would have left well enough alone, I would have become a god who was not concerned with your petty mortal issues. But now, I will become a vengeful god. Hunting down your family and friends, and snuffing out their very souls forever." Ladoran laughs maniacally.


Acre lies on the ground, spent and motionless.

Malehan shoot another arrow before moving toward the altar. He starts to look at it.


[MENTION=13739]Velmont[/MENTION]Looking at the altar, Malehan notices some ancient runes around the edge. The altar appears extremely old and designed for ritual sacrifice, with what might be old black blood staining it. Malehan also notices that the altar doesn't look appropriate for the walls and flooring. It might have been brought here from some other location.


Garrick continues to drop massive amounts of hellish fire on Ladoran, knocking Ladoran prone onto the portculis.


The lady continues to unleash her arcane missiles on Ladoran.


"ENOUGH!" the dragon roars, lightning flying from its maw.

"I will not be defeated by the likes of you."

Knoepf misses. Note: Knoepf cannot shift to square N7 because it is a pillar square (as has been noted in the description each time that that the pillar squares are squeeze squares). So, I shifted him to M7 instead.

Malehan hits Ladoran for 14.

Garrick moves to J7 and does Hellish Rebuke on Ladoran for 12.

criticals Ladoran for 12, knocks him prone, 10 more damage if Garrick is damaged this round.

4 critical damage.

Ready AoS or Frost Backlash (if he's attacked by Ladoran)
Special: Garrick's defenses against Ladoran are all at +4 atm due to curse & movement.

The Lady hits Ladoran for 6 with Magic Missiles.

Ladoran recharges his breath weapon.

6 recharges.

Ladoran rights himself, hits Garrick for 10 and Knoepf for 10 - 9 AoS = 1, Ladoran takes 10 from hellish rebuke.

13+mods hits Garrick, 15+ mods hits Knoepf, 10 lightning damage.

Ladoran hits Garrick, Knoepf, and the Lady for 8.

11+mods hits Garrick, 12+mods hits Knoepf, 11+mods hits the Lady, 8 damage. Note: I was planning on Ladoran hitting the Lady, but accidently wrote Vex in the link. Brain fart.


Note: Ladoran is hovering above the portcullis 15 feet in the air.

It's the PC's turn.

The two walls to either side of the entrance way go up 15 feet, so someone could climb either the wall or the portcullis and still get out.

The "stairs up" in the corners, at the statue in the middle, and at the far end are difficult terrain. Everything else is normal terrain. The pillar squares holding up the ceiling are a squeeze, but creatures can diagonally move past them with no difficulty.

Note: there is a set of double doors at the south central part of the map which might be not easy to notice right away.

As Knoepf moves towards Acre he mumbers the words My lady. Help me help those in need. Finding the spot he wants, the cleric closes his eyes and begins to pray. As he does so, his wish is granted as his body starts to glow in a silver hue. As his prayers become louder, so does the intensity of the brightness of color. Soon a single orb of silver light releases forth from the cleric's body and begins to rotate about him. Suddenly, Knoepf's eyes snap open and his gaze bores into the dragon. BLASPHEMY! IT IS NOT WISE TO SPEAK SUCH WORDS IN REFERENCE TO THE LADY!" With that, the silver orb shoots forth into the bloodied body of Acre. It is time to put an end to this evil spawn to death. Reek havoc on him Acre!

As the silver light fades away the cleric leans against the pillar as he barely has the strength to stand.

OOC: Is Ladoran still flying? Being knocked prone by Garrick...

OOC: Ladoran used a move action to go back to hover mode and did not change his position. He is no longer prone. He also did not fall off the portcullis when he fell prone onto it because knocking a large (or larger) creature off an edge requires moving all of the squares of the creature off the edge, not just some of them.
