(Adventure) Slaying the Dreamer [Judge: Uriel]

"I favor a frontal assault, Adron, because it does not preclude investigating beforehand." She nods at Quickwhip. "It seems that we two have certain... insurmountable objections to being sold as slaves. But Jack and Draven, if I am not mistaken, will do much in the pursuit of profit and tales for his god, respectively." She steeples gauntleted fingers under her chin. Whatever her other thoughts on clandestine missions, she was a good planner and when given certain parameters would work in them as best she could.

"The best way to find evidence is to investigate the place earlier, either by skullduggery or by simple breaking-and-entering. I think it unlikely for us to be able to fight at all within the tower without all the inhabitants noticing-” as Fant played out that scenario in her head, she had mentally cringed when she thought about the shouts of alarm, gasps of pain, the clang of steel on steel- “And if we are to fight four guards, two golems, and a wizard, all at once and all in their home territory, I think it will take more than four of us.” She shakes her head. “I can keep control of the mercenaries, I think, although less than ten are needed. I expect the way it will play out is that I will direct them, to the best of my abilities, against the guards and the golems, and my compatriots here will do their best to eliminate the wizard- assuming we have gathered sufficient evidence.” Use scouts to gather intelligence, formulate a plan, and direct the troops into battle- Fant had done it a hundred times before. In practice, anyway.

[Check the area of a Glyph of Warding. In the description of Disable Device it says you can disable a GoW (I imagine this is without triggering it). I see no reason why you cannot disable an Alarm without triggering it.]aaa

OOC: Well... It's not so much a matter of disarming it (I assume Jack has enough experience with tricks and traps to realize that magical ones are exceedingly difficult to bypass... base DC 26 for that 1st-level Alarm spell, for example ...a long shot even for Jack), but how to get 20 feet through the warded area, and close enough to the door to 'disarm' the spell.

"Certainly so, Miss Fant, but there're particular things a even skulldugger such as myself'll not do willingly. Waltzing straight into shackles and a prison is neigh on near the top of the that list, if you catch my meaning."

Turning back to Janos and also looking to Dravin for any other divinely magical inspirations, Jack asks, "Can we find a way to quiet the alarm? I figure, the alarms're likely meant to wake up everyone in the house, especially the guards, who're the ones'll be doing the head thumping. Plus, the noise'd scare off any proper burglar before they'd ever get inside. If the spell never makes any noise, we can skip across it all we want and no one'd ever be the wiser, eh?

"And if the alarm just tickles the mind of your pox-ridden wizard, why then, we're buggered anyway, aren't we? Of course, that'll bring him right to us, and the job'll be all trussed up in a trice, one way or the other."

The corners of Fant's mouth turn up a little as she resists smiling. "I don't suppose the thought of your brave companions outside, waiting to rush in and liberate you, will hold you through the ordeal?" she asks sardonically. Then, more seriously, "I'm not paticular as to how we reconoiter, as long as it gets done. Bribing a servant, taking the place of a guard- wait a moment," she says. "Janos, you say you can't enter the building. How close do you have to be to cast dispel magic yourself? If you could disable the alarm long enough for Jack to get in and do what he has to do...."

Draven considers for a moment, "Aye, the Gods to have the ability to silence the magic noise of wizards, though i'm not enough in Grendath's favor to ask him for such a boon. If another of the Gods' servants have written the needed prayer, i can use that...though, now that I consider it, I'd be willing to play the part of the slave...Triumphing while denied me armor and mace would be a true demonstration of my faith to the Lucky Soldier!!!!"

Quickwhip conciders what the others say and shakes his head. "I'll follow any plan that will allow me to keep my rank and hair, but all of this seems premature. We are trying to formulate a plan with incenificant information. We need to see the tower our selves., maybe spend a few days casing the tower to get the basic exsternal ruitines. They are always weaknesses to exploit, you just have to find them."

"It's not the first plan I'd opt to try, Miss Fant, not unless the treasure pot was well worth it... And 500 gold coins're almost worth it, especially if Mr. Dravin here's there to keep me company."

"Sure enough, we'll case the joint, Mr. Quickwhip. Never hurts to have a few plans in mind." Jack considers the workings of the Alarm spell again, "But if we're going to take a gander at the place ahead of time, I'll need a cat... or maybe a dog... and a dead rat or bird."

Quickwhip shrugs. Whatever it takes to get the evidense that they need, though he's not sure he trusts this... man to keep his pockets empty of anything other then the evidence, but he can confront him when and if it becomes appearant that his greed exceeds his good will. "Let's get on our way. Once more I ask if there are any close dwellings or towns near this mages tower?"

Quickwhip rases his eyebrows at the list also.

OOC: I forgot that all the talk of area effects was in OoC, so Quickwhip can not guess as to the need... but then with the arcane knowledge of our rogue, he may not know either unless the wizard mentions it.
