(Adventure) The Burning Tower (Knight Otu Judging) [Concluded]

OOC: I'd like to change Nars action. He will stay where he is and ready action to 5ft step toward the creature and attack once it has attacked anyone. AC 17, Attack +2, Damage 1d6+2

Ishmael continued his cautious advance, trusting in his defenses to keep him safe.

ooc: If he can do it as a free action, he will try to look into the construct's eyes or study the construct's movements to see if it is sentient. I'm guessing sense motive (+4) would be a relevant skill (albeit probably with a penalty bec. of differences in species)

End of Round 1

Code:
|P| ________
| | / cc
| | / Xc
| | /
| |/ GNI
 FM

Gorefoot moves into position.

Morulas (Having delayed action previously), drinks the potion of Cat's Grace. He feels more dexterous. Dropping the Halberd on the upstairs side of the protective field, he pulls out his bow as he dashes up the stairs.

I'll handle this out of order, since many of you have been looking at it rather intently. Ishmael's best guess (and it's only a guess) is that the construct is in fact sentient. It's certainly not bright, but it has a glint in it's eyes that suggests it may be capable of thought.

Round 2 Begins

Code:
|P| ________
| | / cc
| | / Xc
| | / I
| |/ GN
 FM

Initiative:
Persephone
Rodimus (KO)
Nars
Ishmael
Fant
Construct
Gorefoot
Morulas

(Persephone goes here.)

Rodimus fails to stabilize, taking another point of damage.

Nars gets ready, waiting for an opening.

Ishmael moves in cautiously, prepared to deflect a hit. A bold move, given what happened to Rodimus. His faith in his defenses is rewarded however, as he takes the blow upon his shield without injury.

Fant is next.

Fant grimaces. So much for a defensive line taking the charge....

"Surround it," she orders, and advances on the beast, hoping Ishmael distracted the creature enough for her to close unmolested.* Move and attack if she's close enough, charge if she's not.

*If I read this right, the creature gets no AoO on me unless he has combat reflexes, yes?

With fluid grace Morulas nocks, draws and loosens an arrow at the brute.

--------------------------------------------

Ooc 1:
[Attack + 7* / Damage 1d8 + 1] assuming this is all withing point blank range.

Ooc 2:

Initiative:
Persephone
Rodimus (KO)
Nars
Ishmael
Fant
Construct
Gorefoot
Morulas

*An Action delayed once is action delayed for the whole battle? I was hoping to get a shot before someone engages the thing since I don't have Precise Shot. If not my Attack will be lower I guess.

Persephone

Persephone will move into the room and fire a Magic missile at the construct.

OOC: Leaving her w/only one 1st level spell remaining...

Round 2, continued

Code:
|P| ________
| | / cc
| | / Xc
| | / FI
| |/ GN
  M

Initiative:
Persephone
Rodimus (KO)
Nars
Ishmael
Fant
Construct
Gorefoot
Morulas

Previously: Persephone moves into the room, launching a pair of magic missiles at the creature. She does 6 points of damage.

Fant faces a problem. While she is too far away to get to the construct with a single move, obstacles between her and the construct (such as Morulas, for example make a charge impossible. She is of course correct that the construct has used it's attack of opportunity this round, so unless it has combat reflexes it will not be able to get further attacks of opportunity until after its next action. Two courses of action seem likely: either double moving to get at the thing, making no attack this round or delaying in the hopes that Morulas and Gorefoot move. I've updated the map assuming she moves in her full 40' double move, let me know if I guessed your intentions wrong.

The construct rears up and swings twice at Ishmael, missing twice.

Gorefoot is next.

Initiative Consequences of Delaying: Your initiative result becomes the count on which you took the delayed action. If you come to your next action and have not yet performed an action, you don’t get to take a delayed action (though you can delay again). If you take a delayed action in the next round, before your regular turn comes up, your initiative count rises to that new point in the order of battle, and you do not get your regular action that round.

Yes, delaying you action permanently changes your initiative order. Readying an action has a similiar effect.

Gorefoot - Gnome Barbarian 1

Eager to hack the beast to pieces, Gorefoot happily complies with Fant's order to surround it. He raises his sword and charges.

OOC: Gorefoot will charge if able, if not he will just move in and attack (30 ft. of movement available), looking to place himself just to the left of the X in your diagram. Power attack for 1, +4(+6 charging) to hit, 1d10+6 damage.

Persephone

"Darn it, Fridly," mutters Persephone to the owl on her shoulder. "I'm running out of spells." Persephone moves into the room. She'll try to find a good shot with her crossbow. (+0 1d8 if firing into melee)

"Be careful, everyone!" she shouts.
