(Adventure) The Burning Tower (Knight Otu Judging) [Concluded]

Persephone

"Oh Fant," Persephone lowers his crossbow momentarily to give the aristocrat a one-handed hug. "You're very brave. Hopefully we will be able to kill it with our bows." She steps back and readies her crossbow again.

"And call me Percy!"

OOC: Light Crossbow +3 1d8 +0

Ishmael holstered Violet and drew out a cold iron dart. He briefly considered activating his spell of accuracy, but the lack of time did not agree with him. Instead, he just made ready to cast the dart should the creature reveal itself again.

ooc: Cold Iron Dart +7 (1d3+2)

Morulas winces at the sudden eruptions of murderous intend around him.
'Please? Did I get this right? You want to slay this creature, who might or might not be Rilithorne for the crime of emitting what appears to be harmless smoke?'

Morulas shakes his head in disgust.
'And not only that! You want to slaughter it cravenly from the safe side of a barrier where it doesn't even have a chance to stand and fight?'

Holding up his hands to indicate that he will not take part in this sort of wanton killing, the elfs shaming voice can be heard loud and clear.
'I have seen Goblins with more honor than you have. '

An ineffective ambush

Nars throws his coin through the field, and the smoky form slams into the field, perhaps showing a greater tendancy towards violence than Morulas accuses his companions of.

Even with the slight distortion of firing through the pourous side of the containment field, the smoky form is easy to hit, but difficult to damage.

Nars and Persephone hit it with crossbow bolts, but fail to damage it. Ishmael's cold iron dart does the same, and the Cold Iron appears no more effective than common metal. Gorefoot hits it dead on with his Javelin, but fails to damage it.

Fant misses with her shortbow.

I'm unclear what Rodimus is throwing, though I take it Fant handed him something.

Morulas apparently chooses not to attack.

It would appear that your attacks will need some added punch to get past its damage resistance. Perhaps, as a magical creature, some sort of magic is required to slay it?

ooc: Unless I am mistaken, none of those weapons were enchanted. Let me know if I am wrong.

The ooze retreats back into the smoke, though whether or not it even realizes it has been attacked is unclear.

Ishmael grew irate at the sound of the word craven. He had been called such before, and he liked it not. The halfling tried to keep his temper, but memories of the past and of a different life pumped his blood beyond control.

Something that was Ishmael yet was not him at all tempted him with vengeance and blood for insults thrown.

"I pray thine words were of jest, Morulas. Thine protest was noted and respected. However, I do not take slights to my honor lightly" The 2-foot halfling warned the elf. He didn't feel the need to remark upon the irony of an archer calling him craven or to comment on the obvious violent nature of the creature.

Then he did what he was ordered, healing Rodimus and any other wounded in the party with the wand.

ooc: I think Rodimus and Gorefoot (and maybe Fant) are still wounded. Ishmael will use a charge on each one.

'Not in jest. No. Never would I slight a persons honor lightly'
Morulas adds with a sigh.

'Tell me Sir Ishmael of the Wooden Sword, honestly and sincere, do you know this creature in there to be a wicked and irremediable evil. Something that deserves nothing less than violent and bloody death?
If so, I'll gladly charge in first.
'
the Ranger asks, pointing at the shimmering wards.

'But what if we merely lash out at a creature unlucky enough to be caught and caged by Rilithornes accident? Or by his intend? Taunted likely by our pickings, because surely we must appear to it as the tormentor who trapped it in this ward. I think, most of those in this room, myself included, would behave no different, would the situation be reversed.
the elf notes, nodding at Gorefoot and Rodimus.

'You might consider an archer gutless. But at least a bowman does not pick his targets indiscriminatly'
Morulas sighs, already feeling that his wailings only fall on deaf ears.

'Taking lifes without knowing that its needed. Amin n'rangwa - thats something I cannot understand.

Rodimus is attacking with a shuriken. Attack bonus +2, damage d3+3.
"Die rather than stay in there," Rodimus says to Morulas, thumping his own chest, "maybe it too."

OoC: Darn, seems I've forgotten to write down the attack for shuriken.

"The, um, creature has shown, er, hostile intent. It's attacked a-anything entering the field. You, Morulas, have been a valuable companion, showing quick thinking and resourcefulness throughout this ordeal. Your appeal to mercy is noble, but this, er, creature violently stands in the way of the, ah, source of the problem, and must be put down. As for firing from, um, safety, tis no different than any other ambush, which I have heard the elves favor.

"It appears we did no damage anyway."

ooc: If each of you could determine the extent of your wounds, if any, and roll the amount of healing (d8+1) I would apreciate it.
