(Adventure) The Burning Tower (Knight Otu Judging) [Concluded]

"The, um, creature has shown, er, hostile intent. It's attacked a-anything entering the field. You, Morulas, have been a valuable companion, showing quick thinking and resourcefulness throughout this ordeal. Your appeal to mercy is noble, but this, er, creature violently stands in the way of the, ah, source of the problem, and must be put down. As for firing from, um, safety, tis no different than any other ambush, which I have heard the elves favor.

'Well, I guess you are right.'
Morulas agrees with a sigh, staring hatefully at Rilithornes spellbook and wondering if he could take out his frustration at the Wizards legacy.

'Maybe.. it's. Well because I feel so helplessly trapped and caged myself in this cursed tower.'

"Well said, Master Blackbeard" Ishmael nodded at Nars' words, his esteem of the dwarf was raised significantly. He still burned with the thought of Morulas' words, but there was a crisis at hand.

Quarrels and debate would have to wait until they had determined that this was no threat to Orussus.

After healing everyone, he took up Violet and awaited instructions.

Gorefoot - Gnome Barbarian 1

"Die rather than stay in there," Rodimus says to Morulas, thumping his own chest, "maybe it too."

"Me too." Gorefoot looks at Morulas, "We should kill it."

ooc: If each of you could determine the extent of your wounds, if any, and roll the amount of healing (d8+1) I would apreciate it.

OOC: Ahh Gorefoot, gnome of few words :)
Gorefoot is currently down by 2 hit points I believe:
Hit for 3 by an air elemental
Healed for 2 by Ishmael
Hit for 7 by the ape-construct
Healed for 6 by Ishmael

That puts him at 13 hit points out of 15.

Nars appears embarrassed at the praise from Sir Ishamael, "I-I ..." and he falls silent studying his boots.

He is concerned about what to do next. It seems unlikely that he will be able to find a weak spot in the creature with all that smoke, if such a weak spot even exists.

He gazes back at the spellbook hoping for an option other than charging in blindly.

Persephone

OOC: Percy sustained 2 pts dmg from touching the hot button, but I believe Ismael healed that by laying his hands.

Normal weapons don't seem to hurt it. Does anyone have magic weapons? Perhaps we should wait until tomorrow to attack. Then I could hit it with numerous magic missiles. I don't know that we're in any particular hurry."

ooc: Fant was dealt 19 points of damage, and then healed 16 points. She'll tell Ishmael to hold off healing the more minor wounds, such as hers, if he'll have to use the wand- they may be holding off for a day, after all, so best to conserve resources if the wounds are minor enough to be healed by rest.

IC:

Fant listens cooly to Morulas' arguments, displaying no reaction to his comments on honor and not bothering to refute his arguments as to why killing the creature may be premature. She considers her tactics simply good sense and the creature clearly hostile and a danger to Orussus; the elf's arguments do nothing for her opinion of his tactical wisdom or analytical skills. The situation seems to resolve itself (Fant nods in approval at Nars' comments, which echo her thoughts closely, albiet more politely phrased than her immediate reaction was), and Morulas offers an apology, so she lets the incident pass without comment.

"Normal weapons don't seem to hurt it. Does anyone have magic weapons? Perhaps we should wait until tomorrow to attack. Then I could hit it with numerous magic missiles. I don't know that we're in any particular hurry."

"The situation seems stable, but as Rilthorne seems to have discovered, magic tends to be highly unpredictable. My own weapon lacks any enchantment, unfortunately," she admits. "But I may have a solution, if it turns out things need to be resolved with a measure of haste." She looks at the smoke rising out of the building. "Your, ah, pet- Fridely, was it?- could it act as some manner of courier?" Fant is unfamiliar with familiars, as it were.

Thomas Hobbes (Fant) said:
She looks at the smoke rising out of the building.

On examining the smoke, Fant notes that it is sufficiently airy that it is able to move through the containment fields surrounding the building. A trick that no member of the party, even Fridley, is likely to duplicate.

Percy

"Fridly isn't likely to be much help is he? That's OK, darling," she says, the last part directed at her owl.

She sighs. "I wish I could read that spell book. But it's dangerous for me to try to cast his spells. I'm not that kind of wizard." She looks around the room, trying to find anywhere that might make a comfortable bed.

"I agree with Morulas, sort of. I mean, don't we all? No one wants to attack something when we don't know what it is. But no one has a better idea. We have no where else to go but in there. And if that creature in there is going to attack an inanimate object that enters, it almost certainly is going to attack us. So a preemptive strike seems the best option. I'm not much use in a fight now. I have one usefull spell left, and no other weapons that might hurt that thing. My vote is sleep on it for now, and try again tomorrow. But if you want to attack today, or even if you don't, I do have my one spell left..."

Persephone

"You know. I still haven't gotten to try my little trick. What the heck?"

Persephone moves to put Fant between her and the smokey enclosure. Then, in an instant, she assumes the form of Rilithorn. Striding out purposefully, she walks over to the pedistel. She looks sternly at the smokey screen. "Begone!" she says in her best male voice.
