[Adventure] The Cannith Caper (Judge: THB)

Varak quickly settle a shroud over the bugbear, a shadow falling over it's midsection. The half-orc moves over to the prone scimitar wielder and thrusts hard with the blade in his left hand. The blade slides between it's arm and side, bouncing off the floor. The half-orc is already moving though, his blade nicking both foes as he passes. The bugbear is in his sights and the barbarian charges but again the prone form of the bugbear throws his aim off.

Hatlor grunts as he is hit the first time. He tries to use his momentum to duck on the first, but the slipperiness of the floor works against him and he is hit... hard. Wiping the dirt from his mouth, he straightens and spits at the hob's feet. I've had worse. He steps away from the two but swipes at the more damaged one. While the attack misses, it becomes clear it was a feint as Haltor calls, Varis, Gark! Get the other while this one's distracted![sblock=OOC (Varris, Gark read!)]Second Chance on B3's second attack: Crit!. Oops. So that's 8 extra damage (assuming its a Bladebearer) which brings Haltor to 7.

Two minors to use Rub Some Dirt on it and Inspiring Word for 8thp and 6 hp to Varak. +13 hp from Varis later.

Shouldn't B2 be at -47 (at least) and B3 at -5 from Varak? I'm assuming so. Shift (via power) to Z38 and then: Lead by Example vs B2: Miss (AC 14). Since he missed, Haltor allows Varris & Gark to shift one and make a basic attack. I'd suggest flanking B3 and then attacking.[/sblock][sblock=Haltor]Haltor—Male Halfling Warlord 4

As the bugbear stands and attacks, believing himself free of the warden's attention, suddenly a small bolt of lightning shoots out from Gark's glaive and knocks the bugbear back a step, taking the wind out of him and slowing his movement. "Thought I wasn't watching, eh?" Gark taunts as he continues to face the threats behind him. Taking a cue from Haltor, he steps into position and slashes the bloodied bugbear hard across the chest.

[sblock=bugbear's action]R1, did you remember to do -2 for the bugbear's attack? Just checking. :)

Once the bugbear attacks, he'll trigger Warden's Grasp as an immediate reaction: slide the bugbear back to column 39, row T? (Is there a row T? If not, just go to U), he is also slowed and cannot shift until the end of his next turn.[/sblock]
[sblock=Haltor's action]Gark will take that shift and go to Z39 and take a basic melee on B2 (I don't think I can hold that action until Varris moves for flanking, but I'll grant flanking to Varris - so instead I'll whack the guy who's more hurt).

basic melee: 22 vs AC hits for 12 damage[/sblock]
[sblock=ooc]On my turn I'm going to mark both Bs and attack one; I'll wait for Varris to take his free action from Haltor before continuing, just to make sure of his location. Not too bad considering I haven't taken my turn yet! Hooray leaders! :)[/sblock]

Varis d'Lyrandar , Half-Elf Bard 4

Varis sees the option for flanking, but got a better idea in mind. Timing his movement and reach just right, he summons a lightning spray at the two bugbears. "Haltor! Give and you shall receive!"

[MENTION=9789]evilbob[/MENTION]: Could you heal Varak and not yourself? He is in reach for your healing, but not Varis'. If you change your action, Varis uses Majestic word on Haltor.

[sblock=ooc]Wait - huh? I don't think you can use burning spray as your free action since we only get a basic attack, and that's an encounter power, right?

Also - yes, evilbob is the warden who can heal himself but not really others very much. :)[/sblock]
[sblock=edit]Oh wait - you're saying you didn't take the free shift/action and just took your turn, then?

In that case, I'll wait for r1 to confirm if anything is dead before continuing![/sblock]
[sblock=edit again]JEES, I suck at this: also the hobgoblin I hit took 2 extra damage from me. I continually forget to add that!

So in sum: r1: the hobgoblin took 14 from me and was hit again; is it dead?[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc]Sorry for absence... I had in-laws in town over the weekend, couldn't find any time to post. And then couldn't get through to ENWorld yesterday. It still seems kind of slow.

Busy at work now but I'll post a move later tonight.[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc]Ok, it may be too much retconning, but if Varis doesn't want to take the free basic attack from Lead by Example, Harressh can use it to cast Dragonfrost which is a basic attack.

Here's an attack roll for it in case renau1g allows the retcon - vs B3 I guess: Dragonfrost vs B3 (1d20+9=16, 1d8+11=15) vs Fort - probably a miss anyway. (But something to keep in mind for later anyhow)

Oh one other little rules note - evilbob, Warden's Grasp slow/cannot shift effect lasts until the end of the creature's current turn not its next turn. (which kind of sucks, though it's still pretty good for quicklings and things of that nature that like to run away immediately after attacking)[/sblock]

Harressh spits a ball of ice towards the bugbear at the other end of the room, but it sails wide.

[sblock=Actions]Dragonfrost vs. bugbear (1d20+9=16, 1d8+11=19) vs fort, assume that's a miss. Rats, waste of max damage roll. :([/sblock]
