Varis d'Lyrandar , Half-Elf Bard 4

"Looks like you could earn more money by helping us. And knowing our honor, you can be sure we will not trick you. Can you lead the way and warn us about other guards and traps?" Varis asks, the charming power of his voice magically enhanced.

The bugbear scratches his chin with his large hand, seeming to weigh both sides of the situation. "How much ya offering scrawny?" he asks.

BTW I just picked up the Walking Dead Compendium (first 48 issues of the series). It's so awesome...I got it on Friday and am nearly 1/2 way done, it's too hard to put down. [/sblock]

"Me? Just a merc, working for gold. You?" he replies.
"There seems to be some contention on that point..." Gark smiles.

[sblock=ooc]I don't know, what is a standard "bribe" level? Maybe 50 now and 150 when we're done? Definitely split it up is my thought.[/sblock]

OOC: Testing the new blocks...

Oh, um, back to the task at hand: well are we trying to improve his diplomacy further? I dunno - let's offer 25 now and 25 when we're done and see if that's enough to buy some bugbear loyalty. He's already ratted out his boss for his life, so I'd say we're barking up the correct tree here.

OOC: Edit: Actually, that would work out pretty well - there's 5 of us (right?), so that's 5 gold each up front. Assuming he doesn't die and we just take it back anyway. :) Speaking of which: time to search the bodies!

Gark pulls out a fat change purse and slowly counts out 25 gold pieces. "How about 25 gold now - " he says, holding out his hand... and then suddenly closing it around the gold, "and 25 more when your former employers are no longer in our way?"

After a moment he adds with a still-quite-bestial grin, "Either that, or we could just kill you now."

[sblock=ooc]I can roll an intimidate with that last line or not, just let me know if I need to. :)

Regardless of the bugbear's response, a) Gark won't actually kill him, and b) he'd like to search the bodies once the negotiations are done.[/sblock]

"Hmmm, well I won't be going with ya, but I know a way around the traps down that hallway (he says, pointing to the way you came). I'll tell ya where it is and you give me the 25 gold and I walk away. Whattya say?" the bugbear says
