[Adventure] The Darkest Night (DM: johnmeier1, Judge: Ozymandias79)

"There's no need fer ya to sully yer blade my brave friend, let ol' Murphy take care o' this messy bit fer ya. This kinda thing ain't look good on ya" Murphy whispers to his large draconian ally, casually twirling a noose of shadows in his hands, ready if Shorrin moves.

[sblock=ooc]
Murphy will coup de grace him with Executioner's Noose if Shorrin wishes [/sblock]

Shorrin lifts his foot, more out of an effort to keep the shadow off him than a hesitance to finish the ordeal. Without saying more, he simply turns and walks back toward his group.

As Murphy takes care of the dirty beastman, Shorrin corrals the horses. There are four, one for each of the group, though one is somewhat more injured by blows to the head from the dragonborn's hammer.

The path continues and the land about becomes more wet and swampy. There is low water among the bottom of the trees to the south. You see in the distance a column of woodsmoke as if from a small fire. Ahead just visible through the stunted and twisted trees is a large house. It sits next to a rickety pier that extends into the boggy waters on the left. In front of the house is a small bonfire burning while just to the opposite side of the house are two large men, stripped to the waist chopping firewood.

[sblock=OOC] Anything before you get within eyesight range of the men/house?

Possible end of campaign early? If it turns out Shorrin can't continue we can give encounter/time XP to date in this campaign and "give up" on the girl. I mean, come on, first vampires then were-creatures?!

Can you please give us an update as to how injured we were at the end of the last encounter? I know that we will be spending some healing surges before moving on. Dextyr will use Song of Rest, which grants 4 additional hit points per surge spent.

[sblock=Ending early..]
Could we possibly recruit another character to replace Shorrin if that does happen? I know that there is a warforged warden (Voda Vosa) there but I think he may be level 6 or something like that (not too sure). I'd hate to leave an adventure unfinished but if that's how it turns out so be it.

The assassin scopes out the area, looking for a way to sneak up without being spotted.

*Spend 1 surge to get fully healed up. Well, Murphy's 6, but VV's PC is 7, which is a fair bit higher than Dextyr's 4, but not unmanageable (I think).

Murphy (and I) ain't for giving up, though if we can get a defender, without one I think we're too vulnerable in melee. Murphy's not a stand-up fighter, despite his decent AC and various get out of trouble powers.

Is there enough cover/concealment for Murphy to try and sneak up on them?

[sblock=renau1g] Murphy can still sneak up if you go ahead of the horses and the others stop and wait (be sure to leave them with instructions)[/sblock]

[sblock=status] After Murphy spends another surge here is what I have.
Name HP Surges AP
Shorrin 37/50 12/13 0
Murphy 45/45 4/8 1
Janus 19/34 5/7 0
Dextyr 18/43 8/10 0

Unless I hear otherwise I will have Shorrin spend 1, Janus spend 1, and Dextyr spend 2
[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC] Whatever the party wants to do I can go with it. If you want to OOC recruit in the tavern I can help with that and also provide a mechanic for it. Otherwise you have a Controller, Striker, Leader, and Defender (well only if OnlyTheStrong has internet, but it looks like only on weekends?) I heard of two names we can even PM

[sblock=ooc]

Janus will use two HS. Back to full HP. Better to have em now than need em later...

as for quittin? Dem's fightin words.

I would rather finish the adventure if possible.

Murphy looks at the others, raises his hand to stop them and dismounts from the beast, handing the reins to Shorrin.

"You stay here, ol' Murphy's about ta be go checkin' on our new friends over there. Maybe this time we be gettin' tha surprise on them. I'll be back in a flash" he says with a cold smile, moving towards the house, doing his best to do so quietly, but the ground is unknown to him and the challenges with moving on it are different than his normal stomping grounds.

[sblock=OOC]
stealth (1d20+14=18) doh! IC has decided I can only have good rolls as a DM. Ashir missed 3/4 of his attacks this last round, Kane missed the last three (on 2 of them needing only a 7 to hit), and now Murphy's rollin' poor...[/sblock]
