"I shall trust thine counsel, Telerin." nodded the halfling "Thou art the wisest among us in these wilding ways."

Before he lay down to rest and dream, Sir Ishmael first made sure that all the steeds were fed and sheltered against the weather. Then, he readied his own bedroll and blanket for tranquil slumber.

OOC: Sir Ishmael will go at the midnight watch or the dawn watch, depending on if either is already occupied and his presence would be superflous.

Rurik speaks up for a middle watch, tending to be a night-owl type who is unable to split up his rest. He'll stay awake through Telerin's first watch and any others, up to and including his own (unless it's the next-to, or very last one). He'll sleep when his watch is over, for as long as he can get away with it, and wake when someone shakes him. As a last resort, he'll catnap during the day to make up for any lack.

"So, Telerin, d'ye e'er find out what sort o' charm wuz on that scimitar? From what I c'd see of't, it looked sorta powerful..."

Thurgan will offer to take the last watch, indicating that someone should wake him at that time. He helps where he can to set camp, but, being mostly a city dwarf raised, he hadn't spent much time on the road. As such, he asked questions of those that seemed accustomed to it, to learn more and be prepared in the future.

When he awoke for his watch, he stoked the fire and added wood, if necessary, warming himself. Then, he turned from the fire and began his watch, pacing the camp occasionally to stay alert.

OoC:I won't be near my computer for a few hours, but...

IC

4 am or thereabouts...

Drifting between sleep and being awake, Thurgan sits adding sticks and dried moss to the campfire, talking quietly with Algram. It seems that in a more relaxed environment, the young Dwarf stutters less, though still at times. Aranel, also is awake, having refrshed herself in a meditative trance earlier in the evening.
It is the Elf that hears the sound first. Something large moving out at the edge of the copse of woods. She quickly nots that whatever it is, it is downwind, so as not to spook the horses...

Quickly alerting the two Dwarves, Aranel also notes that there seems to be something [I[else[/I] off to the other side of the camp, as if whatever was out there was hunting as a pair.

OoC: Yelling will give each sleeper a chance to wake, I will roll Listen's vs. DC 10 for each. Kicking someone awake will wake them up <Move E Action>.
The two forms are on opposite sides of the camp, with the horses/ponies not-as-yet smelling the one that is upwind, most likely because of the rain and smoke from the fire.

Aranel,Algram and Thurgan have one round to act before take it to whatever comes, be it combat or something else. Actions?

Thurgan - Initiative: +2; AC: 18; HP: 29/29; Weapon: War axe +6, 1d10+2+1d6 sneak

Thurgan grunted in acknowledgement to Aranel's alert, then pondered his options. He was uncertain whether to call out to the others, and thereby also alert the creatures that the camp was on to them, or to simply attack while the element of surprise was still with them. All of this raced through his head in an instant.

Thurgan decided on both. He mumbled in dwarven to Algram "Wake them, lad," then charged large creature closest to him.

OOC: Charge opponent, swinging his waraxe at the creature. +2 to hit/-2 AC for charge action.

Aranel wasn't sure what to do, but as the Dwarves seemed to have it worked out, she gave a hand-sign (To indicate she would be waiting in hiding) she wasn't sure he'd get. Almost a mock-salute as she began to quietly to back towards a likely looking hiding place, drawing her cloak around her and pulling out her hand-crossbow.

((Ok, Move Silently, Hide and spot/listen checks please))

Thurgan Charges over the low scrub towards the beast coming from the North. With a start, it lifts it's head as the Dwarf comes ripping out from the undergrowth, it seemes takes by suprise, unaware that the hunter had just become the hunted.Thurgan slammed his Waraxe into the beasts chest <9 HP,including Sneak>. AC 17, "Violet" +6 1d6+3

Sir Ishmael rolled out of his blanket half dazed, grabbing Violet from the side of his sleeping area. The halfling took to his feet in an instant, ready for combat but without a shield. "What in the name of all that is good?!" he mumbled as his blue eyes focused on their massive assailant.

[Move: Stand up; Standard: Pick up "Violet"]
