(Adventure) The Haunted Halls of Stonepike

(Well, that levels this dwarf up... Power attack, meet you new best friend Sturm.)

Sturm admires the surface settlement -- but mostly the gate behind which the real city lies.

"Let's plan fer an early morn', can't we? I'm itchin'n 'ave s'm stone o'er me head again..."

He'll leave the information gathering to the others, as that's all for plans 'n tactics crap, and head off to sleep.

Thurgan waved good-bye to his pony, happy to be counting on his own feet to move him for a while. When he entered the inn, Thurgan felt out of his element. Surprisingly, there were too many dwarves in the inn . . . everywhere, really. He felt out of place, having spent so long in apprenticeship and away from his own race.

Thurgan mumbled a request for a dwarven ale, and ambled over to the indicated table, happy to wash the trail dirt down with some good ale.

Sir Ishmael was slightly reluctant to let anyone else take Courage to the stables. T'was not so much a distrust of the dwarves as much as a love for his friend. Unwilling to sacrifce face, at least, not in front of dwarves, Sir Ishmael patted Courage on his flank then nodded to his caretakers.

The halfling took his place at the table with as much in the way of manners as he could. He awaited for his host or someone else to speak.

(OOC: whose wand charges are spent? Thurgan's or Ishmael's?)

OoC:Aha, seems we won't need to fudge and edit in a Wand, with Ishmael having a 48 Charge one...I will still let someone buy one pripr to the aventure, providing you all have the funds, 25 charge minimum (375 GP).

Waiting on the other players to chime in before I move on. Sturm to Level up, etc...

Rurik beams with pride as Urgan recounts last night's adventures to the guard. Tipping his hat in a subtle salute, he greets the guard in Dwarven: "Rurik, Heir of Clan Axebender, at your service. Those owlbears were fine eating, too. It's certainly nice to be able to eat what one kills, thanks be to Chennet', and Algram here has the cooking skills to make for some lucky woman a fine wife someday, I assure you!" A small belly laugh escapes Rurik, who catches Algram's eye with a warm smile to indicate that he was, in fact, just teasing.

Rurik gives his pony a friendly pet to convince it that it's not destined for the glue factory, and follows his friends to the inn.

As the party settles into the bar, Rurik takes his customary seat at the table between Ishmael and Sturm, ordering a game hen, potatoes and carrots from the lady, taking out his jug of Mom's ale for anyone who wants to try, and switching back to Common to include everyone in the conversation. "Yer know, Sturm, I been fixin' ta tell ya that were one o' the finest blows I e'er seen a dwarf throw down, what yer did this marnin'. But I cannae imagine how much better ye woulda done if ye'd 'ad yer feet unnerneath ya, like so..."

Rurik stands up to demonstrate the stance for Power Attack, to Sturm. Pantomiming the swing of a scythe, he follows through, almost catching the matron's tray as she brings back the food. "Oi, I'm terribly sorry, ma'am. I were teachin' me friend 'ere a combat technique. I shall siddown now."

OOC: Actually, it was a fully charged wand. I removed two charges since I had stated earlier (see previous post) that I had spent 2 charges. Should I presume to bump it back up to 49, seeing as I spent one hcarge for Thurgan?

Aranel had watched the approaching city with mild unease. It didn't look a place she would gladly live...dark and almost forboding...

Still as they had been allowed through the gate and shown to stables, she'd been smiling. No more evil son-of-a-mare! Dismounting she tried to ignore small achy pains and even attempted giving the bast-...the horse a pat goodbye. It tried to bite her fingers. She swore and left it to the tender care of the stable keepers.
Maybe they'd turn it into food. She'd find out once more what the taste of a creature that tried to attack her was like.

Following the others into the bar she felt very out of place, well more so than usual. Humans...Dwarves...she looked around at the group, noticed Thurgan was the only other one that seemed uneasy. She hurried to sit at the table, by him if possible, at least then they could be uneasy in company...

As she was asked what she wanted...her mind blanked. "I'll have...the...house special please?" she suggested, praying it was edible to her. To Thurgan she mumbled a "What's got you so relaxed and happy? Thought you'd be pleased in a place like this..."
Before he answered, she heard Rurik praise Sturm. "That was you?" she asked. "I saw the blow but I wasn't sure which...one of you...Very impressive." She told him before sinking back slightly.

OoC:Yep

*Harumphing*, the Matron goes about finding a meal for the Companions, mutton and chicken, potatoes and carrots, as well as a sharp cheese and ale.
The other patrons in the Inn (The Blue Goblin) keep to themselves, muttering on about whatever other business that they had been engaged in before your arrival. The food, when it arrives, is spiced well, at least, reminding Sturm and Rurik (and Ishmael)of food back home. It seems that these dwarves even have fendamar, a dwarvish spice made from subterranean mushroom ground and mixed with a spicy pepper.

OoC:Er..Rurik sure has a lot of ale in that little jug... :D
