(Adventure) The Haunted Halls of Stonepike

Once he found the room where he'd left his pack, Rurik began the process of changing out of his chainmail. "Nex' time, I'ma fightin' tha balrog in me unnerwear...", he grumbled to no one in particular.

"Wake me when it's me turn, summun'," he said more audibly out the door of his room, then settled in and drifted to sleep.

Seeing everyone start to leave she glanced down the dark corridor, back towards the way they'd come and then gave the ceiling a thoughtful stare. "If there's to be a watch I can take all but two two hour slots." she needed a little rest..."Meaning more sleep for the rest of you." she added pointedly.

"Ye get some rest first then, lass, I'll watch o'er ya. I ken stay awake as long as I ken, then wake ya when it's yer time," Thurgan offered. He accompanied the others on the return to the inn, occasionally glancing back and trying to wipe the scene from his mind.

Finding that the night indeed does allow for a restful sleep, this in part because of the massive pies of blankets and pillows (as well as hot baths drawn when you returned from the Hall), you all take the first truly relaxing slumber in many a day.

OoC:Telerin, please list new spells for the new day)

IC: Drifting down to breakfast in the morning, you are greeted by fried eggs and rashers of bacon, mashed potatoes and a thick meaty gravy. Proper Dwarven fare, all-in-all. The usual beer has been supplanted by a strong tea.

A Dwarven pageboy sits off to one side, looking as if had been in the Inn since dawn. It is obvious that he is waiting on you, though equally obvious that he has been instructed to allow you to eat and discuss the night's events before bringing you back to the Hall.

"Ar, gudnes', look a' 'im. Ye dun s'pose summun ELSE wen' an' died i' the night, did ye?" Rurik posits from behind a mouthful of bacon and eggs, looking at the page boy looking at them.

After swallowing, and with his next forkful in the air ready to be consumed, Rurik continues. "I's thinkin: This thin's mos' likely a shadow. Priests back home 'ad one wanner inta tha Delve one time, and took care o' it. I's ten back then, so I dun' 'member much, but I suspect the firs' place we ought ter go's the crypts, see if anythin's been mess't with. After that, I dun got a clue."

Rurik shoves the next bite into his mouth, looking around at the others and hoping they'd comment.

"The beast did leave some kind of blood trail did it not? This kind of creature wouldst not be intangble then, especially when one looks at the claw marks on the wall.

T'would either be living cireature or a blood sucking undead creature, mayhap a vampire of the children's tales. I am anxious to see the end of the passage where the blood trail disappeared to. It led from the Lord's Chamber to where?

I think the Demonbane's suggestion has merit. We would do well to search the crypts. Barring that, perhaps the surrounding natural area might yield some clues (though that is an overly vague suggestion...)."

"Meebe it's a beastie . . . ya know, like the one's we faced at the monestary, only worse," Thurgan offered. "Meebe even a shape shifter o' some kind, though I'm just guessin' "

OoC:Just let me know when you folks are finished discussing and want to go off and properly get introduced to the Lord, etc...

[I'm perfectly ready to do that whenever - I wanted to give everyone a chance to say something at breakfast, is all.]

"Hmm... a good idea, Thurgan. If that was the beast's identity, then we should be subtle in our findings (save to our patron). This is, of course, because paranoia and suspicion amongst the dwarves may be the last thing that we need."

OOC: Fine either way as well
