(Adventure) The Island of Varras'zul (Manzanita Judging) (Concluded)

Rasereit wakes up from his deep (and loud) slumber. After he stretches and yawns, he grins at the waking party. "Ah heard somethin' about treasure, and Ah'm sure Ah wasn't dreamin'! Show meh the money, mate!" He turns expectantly toward Ogrin.

OOC: Not particularly. I'm not sure I understand the question. I suppose Rasereit is a tad low on HP, but he's got a lot to start with...

After resting and preparing his spells, Nezrak joins the discussion about treasure. "I suppose we could divide the coins now, if you think that we have time, but I'd rather do what we came here to do and get out of here as fast as possible."

OOC: Nothing special in mind.

"Ah, come on, mate. We can't make poor Ogrin carry all that weight around, now can we?" Rasereit says with a sly smirk. "'Sides, won't take that long. Just a little simple math and we'll be on our way in a jiffy."

"What's the matter, " says Ogrin, "you don't trust the halfling with your money?"

Ogrin snickers a bit and continues: "Can't say I blame you. Many of my kin lack the ability to keep their hands out of others pockets. Many, but not all..." Muttering under his voice while splitting the gold, he continues: "...some of us prefer to have them others give us their pockets' contents after knocking them 'round a bit instead."

"I have no idea what these stones are worth though... let's take that when we get back to Orussus."

OOC: Does Mona request a share?

As the party is getting ready after resting, Rillian sits down next to Rasereit. "I am troubled friend Rasereit. Yesterday we killed a creature who was trying to bargain with us. He may have been asking more than the service was worth, but didnt he have a right to ask for a toll? Isnt it common practice to request a toll from anyone who wishes to pass through your home? And I struck at him and drew his blood. I helped to kill him. This isnt like our other battles, when the creatures just attacked, without warning or pity. I know we needed to pass so that we could save Mona's people, maybe we could have explained that to him? What do you think Rasereit?"

/ooc Rillian is speaking relatively quietly to Rasereit, but making no effort to hide the conversation, so anyone may overhear.

"Well, friends... since Mona passes the opportunity, here's fourty-three shimmering gold coins each. Don't burn 'em all at once!"

"Now, unless someone has a plan to turn gold into food, I suggest we get going. My pack is getting light, and I suspect we may be getting low on oil for those lamps as well. Let's go!"

"Ah, Rillian, m'boy, ye be young. Ye haven' killed much, Ah take it. Sad t'say it, but in this business, that'll change right quick." The dwarf sighs. "A few people might disagree with meh on this one, but Ah think that sometimes, monsters jus' don' deserve to live. Take goblins, for instance. Every one o' their foul race of scum should die. Ah never met meh a goblin Ah liked, and Ah don' plan on gettin' to know any either. That bugger Golgol was extortin' people left and right, you can see by his pile of treasure. And did ye notice he had an odd amount o' gold? He prob'ly took everything that every passing explorer had. No, when ye're dealing with someone like that, ye can try to be nice at first. But at one point it becomes apparent that negotiation jus' isn't going t'work. That pathetic creature was pickin' a fight with us. He knew we were dangerous adventurers, yet his greed took ahold o' him. Let that be a lesson to ye, mate." Rasereit pats Rillian on the back roughly, as he stands up. "Nah, don't go regrettin' this kill, friend. We attacked first, but not unprovoked. And he attacked back, with intent to kill. That's the way life is on trail. Kill or be killed. Ye'll learn. Soon enough." To everyone he calls, "C'mon mates, let's move!"
