Mona appeared relieved. Any further objections on her part were silenced by Ogrin's chivalric attitude.
"Very well, Ogrin. Please be careful" She gave him a kiss on the forehead for good luck.
As soon as the agile halfling leapt to the top of the pedestal, the headless skeleton hugging the pedestal fell apart. A few seconds after the dust from the motion settled, everybody was reasonably sure that there was no other reaction to the halfling's movements.
Hands shaking from the anxiety, Ogrin took half a moment to harden his resolve and to gird himself from the pain (assuming that there would be a trap). With nimble fingers, he snatched the book from its place and jumped toward the exit.
Only dust moved about in the wake of his movements. No trap was sprung and everything looked safe.
Scun:
[sblock] From his lookout point at the doorway (O25), Scun saw a horrifying sight emerge from the centipede nest. His dark-seeing eyes fell upon a carpet of clicking, chattering vermin, approaching his position. The centipede swarm closed the distance between themselves and the half-orc with startling rapidity (currently 60 away). Thousands of glowering red eyes were intent on overwhelming and devouring the half-orc, or even his very soul.
If nine centipedes were a problem, these were a veritable plague. The thought of that muscle-deadening venom and the memory of that horrible night in the jungle flashed through the half-orc's mind as he viewed the incoming menace.
