(Adventure) The Island of Varras'zul (Manzanita Judging) (Concluded)

OOC: Yes, he'll hold the waraxe double-handed, and would standing to the side of the door and chopping sideways avoid the trap?

"Ha harr! Hey little g- OW!" Rasereit winces and rubs his head from hitting it on the ceiling. Shrugging it off with a grunt, the giant dwarf gets into position at the side of the door and begins to chop away with his waraxe. If the trap fires, he moves to another location in hopes of being able to hit it without being in range of the trap. If the trap goes off more than once, he'll back off and wait for another plan to formulate.

oog: I assume that you're going to make maximum use of your reach as you strike.

Razh stood to one side and swung his weapon mightily, as if to fell a tree. The war axe connected with a harsh wrenching sound.

(Damage: 15 -10 =5)

The trap did not trigger, even though the war axe left a minor dent on the metal door.

oog2: for clarity's sake I'm going to go by rounds and initiative. But feel free to post your actions out of initiative. Or give me a guideline to go by. I'll fast forward through some rounds if there are no gigantic changes.

ooc: Until something happens (ie the door breaks down, or something shows up), Rillian will be watching entrances to the room, and occasionally looking at Raz's progress.

Nezrak will keep watch, and wait for something to happen (preferably for the door to break down). He will be keeping his crossbow in hand.

The thunderous sound of Razh's swings echoed across the stone walls of the ruin.

A minute passed since the cacophany began and the door appeared to be half-way damaged.

Half a minute more passed and the door soon gave way with a ear-splitting crash, throwing up clouds of dust in the room. The magics that powered the portal's wards dissipated as a visible puff of flame.

As the dust finally settled, lantern light poured into the room and revealed a pedestal at its center. It was smaller than the one in the other room and it carried a locked and sealed tome. Scratches had destroyed the title on the thick leather cover, though the book was otherwise in perfect condition.

Arms entangled around the pedestal, a headless human-sized skeleton clad in banded mail armor still held on to the book. Nearby, a skull sat, dome-first, on the floor beside a masterwork heavy mace.

The outline of a small humanoid had been burned into the wall opposite the door. There was nothing left of whomever it was, save for a halfling-sized masterwork dagger that lay on the floor.

A circle of runes had been etched upon the floor surrounding the pedestal. But older, ancient scratches had marred the circle.

"Now that...", Nezrak says while pointing at the tome and turning towards Mona. "...looks like a well-protected old tome to me." He turns back to look towards the room. "But for some reason, I don't think it will be very safe to just walk there and try to grab it."

Nezrak will cast Detect Magic.

Nezrak's divination revealed to him the presence of five magic auras.

[sblock]

An Aura of Faint Transmutation emanated from the dagger and the heavy mace.

There was a Faint Aura around the armor and the tome but Nezrak could not tell what school these auras were.

The last magic aura was of the lingering magic of the trap.

In the excitement of finally breaking down the troublesome door, the huge dwarf looks as though he is going to burst right into the room and grab the tome. "Come on, mates! Le's go!" He starts towards the doorway and then winces from a deep cut running down his leg. Remembering their battle with the undead... thing... Rasereit shudders. "Er... on second thought, le's... eh, le's think about it, alrigh'?"

Nezrak can barely contain his excitement, but manages to calm down to his usual himself. "The weapons, armor and the tome are magical. I do not sense any magical traps, and our predecessors might have already triggered them, but for some reason I feel slightly reluctant to try my luck. Ogrin, I think that this is your expertise again."

Nimisgod:
[Sblock]OOC: The weapons have Transmutation aura? Not that I could find it from the books, but I remember the normal aura for magic weapons being Evocation. I could be wrong though, or the weapons somehow special...[/sblock]
