As Seraphine paces outside, two people approach and enter the apothacary. Neither one seems to be in need of an herbal remedy. They are fairly stalky, rough cut men, who nod politely to Seraphine as they enter the shop.

Just as they enter, but before she has time to react, Seraphine notices that the two men bear Vythdar Astrix's insignia on their tunics, which cover light hauberks, and they are armed.[sblock=Seraphine][sblock=Perception DC 23]There are two more similarly dressed men at K0 and K11[/sblock][/sblock]Seraphine from without, and the rest of the party from below, hear a rough voice calling out, "Sworc! Sworc! You've got to the count of five to get up here, or you'll no longer be under the people's protection! Five...Four!"

Sworc's eyes shoot up to the rafters above the basement, and then to Draglin's eyes, "OK. Another 40% off, but that's my final offer." He turns to the shifter, "Deal! Going rate. I got that yesterday and it's in the finest condition you can expect in this town." he nervously casts his gaze once more up through the floorboards

"...Three...Two..." booms the voice from above.

"I'm comming!" Sworc calls up, and disappears up through the trap door.

The group follows to the base of the ladder, but the voices are too muffled to hear. Their tone, however is obviously threatening. Suddenly, the first voice booms once more, "Sworc Foredrum! As a representative of the People of Rioc Alair, I declare this establishment outside the protection of the people!"

The sound of breaking furniture and scuffling feet quickly follow, as well as Sworc's pleas for mercy, "No! I'll get you the money!"

"It's to late for that, sewer rat!"

More shuffling follows, and then Haruka, Draglin, and Gloom together catch a scent of something that no one wants to smell in a dry, wooden building...Fire.

Not wishing to be caught in the blaze, the group quickly files upstairs, out of the frying pan...and into the fire!

@Luinnar : Draglin has baught both of his items for 40% off the going rate, a total of 15,600gp. 200XP for the successful bartering. Remind me of this when I post XP for this encounter. If you must, feel free to pilfer an item as well (treasure) if you think it would be in character. If not, I'll have these goons carrying something of value.

@glo om: You have sold your items for 20% (which, BTW is 12,000gp, not 1,200gp) and you have bought a Level 5 Holy Symbol of Scorned Fate +1 for 1,000gp.

Question: Is Virgil still with you guys, or did he follow Mab on her way to deliver Aaron to the authorities?

Also I don't see Virgil, I'll assume he is nearby. Missed your note. Virgil is Draglin new animal companion (with the Fey Beast Tamer theme, please see his sblock).

Stealing is not really in Draglin's character, but I would not mind a Earthide armor of dark deeds +3 or something if they were carrying it :)

I'll assume Draglin has both items equipped, thanks for the equipment and xp bonus!

"Ware - there are two more outside," Seraph says as she charges in, her form simultaneously flaring with light and muting with deep shadows, the combination making her precise location difficult to determine as her blade plunges deep into the enemy's back.

With that, she leaps back towards the door to bar the others from entering.

ooc: Battlefront Shift: Max moves to D2

ooc: intitiative roll: 1d20+7= 19

Before anyone moves, Max moves quickly to a location in order to attack. Whlie doing so he witnesses the powerful attacks from th the fighter and one of the new ones. Taking advantage, he moves quickly into a position to continue the brutal assault on the leader. Max slices with his waraxe creating a nasty wound. The blademaster reacts quickly sinking his sword into Max's exposed arm. The warlord grimaces from the pain. Now Draglin, stab the bastard! The dragonborn responds by sinking his sword deep into the foe's abdomen.

ooc: I had i2's attack and damage IC link located on Draglins attack. I had copied the wrong one. I located the correct one and place in Draglin's attack. The damage is different because I thought he only had a +20 for damage, but Luinnar informed me that it is +28. Soooo, I kept the to hit roll and the 3 damage from the short sword+28 = 31

OOC: [MENTION=79956]dimsdale[/MENTION] I don't see the damage roll for Draglin, but Draglin gets 1d8+28 against him with all the bonuses (Virgil, CA, the cold vulnerability.) :)

Also max gets +2 damage against him for Virgil's aura.

ooc: fixed. Max has grown found of Virgil. He'll start collecting shoes from the foes he kills to give to him for treats.
