As the evening wears on the smell of dusty tome after dusty tome begins to wear heavy on the adventurers heads. As their eyes begin to show signs of their weariness the ever helpful Sharlia deposits the latest pile of books upon the desk with a loud thud.
"I think you lot could do with some rest don't you?" she asks with a hint of sympathy, "Why don't you go get a nights sleep and I shall continue to look into these topics for you, if you return later I should have some more information."

The Halfling acolyte ushers the rag-rag band toward the Library's main stairwell with a kindly smile. As the group descend they notice that the Library's quiet main hall is now lit by hundreds of candles and the huge windows to the city outside let in only the darkness of the night penetrated by the occasional spots of light from drinking establishments.
The walk across the echoing marble floor is a more eerie experience than on the way into Daunton's premier academic establishment. The flickering candlelight throws long shadows about the large chamber and the faint scratching of quills upon parchment is the only noise to be heard over a deeper silence, drawing attention to the only other occupants of the hall. Three novices sit at the lecterns at the far end of the chamber, scribbling diligently under the gaze of a tired looking journeyman sitting at the reception desk with his head in his hands. As the adventurers make their way toward the huge doors to the outside world, the journeyman offers them a parting wave then returns his head to his hands.

Outside the air is brisk and the city mostly quiet. The party makes their way down the stone steps into the cobbled road, receiving a smart salute from the two guards still posted at the Library's door.

//OK, so moving on; to where are you heading and what is your marching order?//

[sblock=Order]Unless anybody has objections, my standard order is thus:He with highest hit points/defenses in front, he(or she) with second-highest in back. Between them, melee in front of healers in front of ranged, each group organized front-to back via hit point totals. Sounds complicated, but isn't.

So unless someone has a particular place they prefer?

Also, I believe we've all arranged rooms at the same inn, for convenience?[/sblock]

Without much conversation after such a long day, the group make their way through the empty streets. As you get further away from the centre of the city less windows spill light into the street and Brother Shane retrieves an already burning torch from his backpack, "Apoli's light is never-ending, even when his face is turned from the land." the cleric declares with a smile.

After about ten minutes of relaxed walking, a glint of candlelight upon metal alerts half the group to the presence of an armoured figure ahead hidden in the shadow of a small fountain. All of a sudden the crouching figure stands to it's full height hefting a huge sword (which is about seven feet) and calls out "So, which of you was it did me brother in eh? Cos I's got someone that want to meet you!"
The faint red glow of a dire rat's eyes peer at you from beside the hulk of a man.

Mikara sees her previous target's brother hefting the large sword and she instantly fades from sight. Shadows settle over her form and she blends in perfectly with the shadows that her allies project from the meager light of the area. Confident in her concealment from Kyvan and his dire rat companions, she whispers to her allies.

"I want Kyvan, but I need you to distract his friends. If you guys can take care of the rats, I'll take care of Kyvan..."

The hidden drow scuttles silently off toward the fountain and waits her chance to enact some retribution on Thomas's brother. Killing Kyvan won't bring her beauty back, but it sure will make her feel better!

[sblock=Actions]
- Minor: Mikara uses Shade Form. Mikara assumes a shadowy form that lasts until she makes an attack roll or until the end of her next turn. While in this form, she is insubstantial, and she gains vulnerable 5 radiant. In addition, she can make Stealth checks to become hidden if she has any cover or concealment, and she can use cover granted by her allies both to become hidden and to remain hidden.

Because Growl and Skalisss provide cover to her from her enemies, she rolls a stealth check. A Perception check of 35 is required to see her.

- Move: Mikara moves to I-9 (to the side of the fountain).

- Free: Mikara places an Assassin's Shroud on Kyvan. Mikara will use her Killer's Insight feat to place a second Assissin's Shroud on Kyvan at the same time. Because Mikara is hidden, Kyvan is unaware of these shrouds.

- Standard: Mikara readies an action to use Targeted for Death on Kyvan just as soon as the rats are not adjacent to him.

[sblock=Targeted for Death results (please only read if this comes into effect)]

Mikara CRITS Kyvan for 33 cold damage. Until the end of the encounter, whenever Mikara uses Assassin's shroud on Kyvan, two shrouds are placed on him instead of just 1. [/sblock]

[sblock=ooc] According to his rules in the first page, we are using the "Mal" rules for combat, meaning he rolls init for us to see if the badguys go before us or after us, but when its "our" turn, our actions apply when we post. So initiative order doesn't matter except to see who goes first.

For Example: If Mikara and Skalisss rolled 22 and 21 initiative, the badguys rolled a 20 initiative, and the rest of the team rolled 19 and under, then Mikara and Skalisss would go first (order doesn't matter), then the badguys would go, then EVERYONE (including Mikara and Skalisss) would go, then the badguys would go, then everyone would go, rinse repeat. ;) [/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]Indeed, so the only time initiative really has any effect is in this; the first round. Growl and Andrec are yet to act, then I can do the badguys :)[/sblock]
