[sblock=ooc]Wait, how many squares are between the messenger and the ground? I thought there were only two. If there were more than that, then I wouldn't be able to ground it.[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc] Ahh, that was my mistake, I DID say two... The ceiling is 20' high so the messenger would have had to move up 3 squares. This is what I MEANT for him to do, but not what I said... SORRY!!! The creature would be at K11 and up THREE squares to the ceiling. Pulling him 2 squares means that you can perform any 1 of the following combinations:

1) Horizontal pull of 2 squares, putting it 3 squares above I11.
2) Horizontal pull of 1 square, diagonal-down pull of 1 square (or vice versa), putting it 2 squares above I11
3) Diagonal-down pull of 2 squares (most likely your choice), putting it 1 square above I11.

[sblock=oh ho ho!] Now I see why you wanted to pull me all the way down... well, lucky for you, Gurdan can STILL attack the messenger. Ah well... so much for getting him out of danger lol, you guys are VERY versatile, I must say. Anywho, here's the new map!

Also, Kinion, although you WOULD overwrite Garricks curse, he can always just use a minor action to put his back... with him being in melee, he won't need to use his move actions as often, so even if he has a utility that he wants to use in combat, most of them are minor actions which he can get from his unused move action. Feel free to curse away (unless of course you come to some other agreement with Garrick).

OOC: Is the messenger within Melee 1 of Gurdan right now? I would assume so since messenger is one square diagonally away, but am not sure...

"Ah, yes, yes! Come to papa!" Gurdan says expectantly, watching as the messenger lowers towards him. "Feast upon this, monstrosity!" He swings, but misses badly (OOC: Earthgrasp strike critical miss - blarg). Embarassed, he tries again... (OOC: Action point Thorn strike hits AC 18 for 14 damage - if hit (doubt it), pull messenger diagonally down and northwest).

OOC: Beast is marked

Gurdan swings his weapon a second time, vines lashing out to grab the messenger, but it whirls about, tentacles knocking the vines aside.

[sblock=Gurdan] Unfortunately both strikes miss. However, even if Thorn Strike had hit, would would not be able to pull it northwest, because the creature was already only 1 square away from you. Moving it northwest would be a slide, not a pull, as it is not getting any closer to you in moving there. [/sblock]

[sblock=attack question]
Since the thing is 10 feet over our heads, can I assume that we can't hit it with melee attacks without some type of reach component? Is this correct?
