3 and 21. 4 and 13. 5 and 2, 5 and 5, and 5 and 18. The art of numbers is that of finding patterns; arithmetic operations to find the key. But, with no context, they are just another mystery.

"Indeed you've cut to the heart of it patterns and meaning rely on context. Perhaps the veil will be parted with further discoveries. For now I have only the suspicion that these numbers are significant." he replies.

Then we had best find their context before it becomes a moot point. If this Idol is as terrible as those journal entries make it sound, only Lauto could tell us now what it's capable of. Where do we go from here?

"There are other avenues of investigation that could be consulted, but signs seem to point towards the sewers." replies the sage, pausing again to cough. "I'll leave it to you all which direction to take, suffice it to say that I wish to know more about the idol and any new cult that might have interest in it."

Oy, da only num'ers I know are in gold. How many crowns we be gettin' for dis sew'ar jaunt?

"Ah the ubiquitous question of compensation. I believe that we have that covered for the three original members of your group. I'll need to put together some coin to cover your expenses. Would one hundred gold coins for each of the two of you suffice? he replies.

[sblock=EvoKB]I know that Rurdev has not received anything from Astrepius yet but has got the largest treasure packet for the adventure already. He might have some qualms about being left out, but I'll leave that up to you to decide.[/sblock]

Note this also constitutes a major quest in terms of XP in the end.

Dat'll do, sage, dat'll do. 'fta all, a dwa'f's gotta eat. I'll let y'all do da thinkin' on des num'ers. I'm ready for da sew'ars when ya'll are.

Dane pulls out some dried mushrooms and shoves them in his mouth by the handful.

[sblock=E13]I'm fine with the blade. Fits the character, plus Rurdev wouldn't take anything. In his mind, the clan blade in more valuable than any gold or other item that he could be given.[/sblock]

"D-D-Do we need t-to pick up any s-s-su-supplies, or are w-we all ready?" The shifter leans up against the wall, breathing shallowly through his mouth.

Asking about these Shards would be wise. A search of the library might turn up more on the idol. And a visit to the council buildings may turn up maps of the sewer. Other than divine guidance and rushing in, I see no other courses.[sblock=OOC]Anyone want to do a Streetwise check other than Incarnation (who failed one already)? We might want a little more intel on the item/map/crooks before heading to the sewer. If not, voice it.[/sblock]

I think it might be best to dig up a bit more information on exactly what we are chasing. If we know its purpose it may point us toward its current location.

[sblock=ooc] Vashik could make a good effort at a history check if we'd be so inclined to go poke around the library. It would also be a good place to dig for maps. [/sblock]

[sblock=ooc]Rurdev is not one to go around researching, though he does see the value in knowing what comes ahead. I can track pretty well, and sewers are pretty dirty(thus easily discernable footprints). If we backtrack, it's possible we can follow the tracks of the retreating halflings into the sewers and maybe beyond.[/sblock]
