[Adventure] Trouble in Moonwatch (Judge: THB) - Part II

River climb down the stair and sit with Valahad. As he eats his breakfast "I felt the power of Arawai growing distant tonight. I hope she is not leaving me. I wonder if Lan wasn't right about my faith and convictions. Time will tell me I suppose."

[SBLOCK=OOC]Suddenly, I am very attracted to buy myself an Healer's Chain Mail. :erm: I'll save my money for now.[/SBLOCK]

[sblock=ooc] Yeah, I thought it sucked that healer clerics (aka protection clerics) were nerfed so badly with the latest update. It's almost like they don't WANT us to play a pacifist healer... sheesh. [/sblock]

Yeah, I thought it sucked that healer clerics (aka protection clerics) were nerfed so badly with the latest update. It's almost like they don't WANT us to play a pacifist healer... sheesh.

I've been comparing an Ardent Demoralizing Strike to Astral Seal.

At level 1, an Ardent could hope to do 1d8+4 damage with a Cha of 18.

At level 1, a Pacifist could hope to heal 6 damage with a Cha of 18.

At level 30, an Ardent could hope to do 2d10+17 damage with a Cha of 26 (+8) a Bastard Sword +6 and Weapon Focus(Heavy Blade)

While a Cleric could hope to heal 22 hp, with a Cha of 26 (+8), an Healer's Brooch +6 and a Healer's Armor +6.

So they are in line of each other, I just find it annoying that the Pacifist healer must reserve 2 magical item slot to stay in line with his at-will and also his healing is related to his secondary traits, not it's primary. But he need no feat to do so.

Also, Astral Seal need 2 hits to heal while Demoralizing Strike need 1 hit to damage. At least, the pacifist have +2 to hit from the power itself. [/sblock]

Not to get too sucked into this type of discussion, but I personally think that Pacifist Healers should not really be in the game system as PCs for two basic reasons:

1) From a roleplaying aspect, they are like military intelligence, an oxymoron. "Hey, it's ok if you cut off that Hobgoblin's head, just as long as I don't do it. My hands are clean. Who wants burgers for dinner?". ;)

This is like an animal activist hanging out with his scientist buddies at an animal testing lab.

2) They screw up encounter balance. They can sit there and damage foes right and left, just like other Clerics until later in the encounter where they can mega-heal better than other Clerics. IMO, they upset game design balance.

Just my two cents.

Feall explains over breakfast the results of his evening's jaunt through the 'streets' of the city.

[sblock=OOC]
Here we go, Feall will paraphrase the below. Oh, and after the full night's rest you all feel invigorated and have earned your extended rest.

You spend an hour working the streets and find a few rumours, that a single man matching Valahad's description entered town and left within a few hours, heading north, deeper into the Marches. For those headed north, the river is the fastest way, but everyone's afraid to travel it with the cultists around, although maybe old Glasur would take up the challenge provided those going were looking for get some revenge on the cultists. He lost his family when they raided his village not four months ago. He'd certainly be drinking in the Sundial Tavern, a seedy place, but cheap watery ale abounds [/sblock]

[sblock=River]
As you were beat over the head with the "nerf" bat with the latest update, I will allow you to rebuild your PC if you so desire at this point. [/sblock]

"Well, that sounds promising." Sheeva says as she digs heavily into the food, determined to get her money's worth out of this inn.

"It sounds better to head up a river on a boat than it does to muck through that swamp. It took me the better part of an hour yesterday, just to get the dead insects out of my hair. I don't know what they find so wonderful in there."

"I suggest we go to the Sundial Tavern." tells River.

[SBLOCK=OOC]Thanks, but I'll keep him as his. I look at the last combat and I have made my part, even if I was dazed, thanks to moment of glory. I hadn't used at all Astral Seal, Life Transference or Stream of Life, my three powers who have been nerf. I'll test it

But let's just for my item level 6, a parcel+4 would welcome, something like an Healer's Finemail ;) Healer's Armor and Healer's Brooch will become a must to my character.[/SBLOCK]

OOC: Thanks, boss! Meant to do this two nights ago but it slipped my mind once I got home . . .

Valahad nods, speaking in the mind of Feall, and then the others. "Well done, Feall. The boat is fine with me, though hopefully the river is not too deep." The kalashtar shifts a bit in his heavy plate armor. "Let's go to the tavern and find our captain."

The group leaves the Inn and heads towards Sundial Tavern after a hearty breakfast and well-deserved rest and for some, recreation. You enter the smoky bar, a far cry from the opulence and class of the previous evening. There are a few people in the tavern right now at this time of day. A few half-orcs are drinking quietly together and a lone full-blooded orc sits at the bar.

You gain an extended rest's benefits. Sorry for delay. It's our year-end at work. Accountants love lots and lots of reports and documents and plans and ... yeah [/sblock]
