"Yes, this situation does garner some need for concern. Arrows would definitely have sufficed if they wanted us to know that the man was simply murdered. This was staged to look like an accident, however. That leads Us to believe, further, that the letter was placed here on purpose for either us or another flamist (or someone working for the flamists) to find. The fact that it is written in elvish may just be another ruse to make it seem as if it were trying to be secretive by using a language other than what is common among us all. Perhaps to make it seem as if this man were a courier, much like Pok is. We doubt the authenticity of this letter. Pok, is there any way you can determine if this document is a forgery and not an official document that a courier would carry?"

Pok chimes in, albeit quietly, I said the Silver Flame was no different than Khyber, and meant it. My contract is to ensure the safety of those in this group, and to gather reconnaissance on the area's problem. It just so happens that violence has been The Khyber cultists only offered mode of interaction. If only they would offer, we would parley. As for the man, Arrows are easily deflected by simple shield spells, or plate armor. Rock slides kill most anyone, or pinion them so that others may do so. River said this was happening, did you not listen Sheeva? He holds his hand out for the letter though, just in case it may be forged. Here Lan, I'm not as observant, but I can tell you what to look for. Ink variation, watermark, seal imprints, paper-thread count, folds, creases, words that fade...

"Thank you, Pok. That information is very helpful. Sometimes people forget that being perceptive is only half of what is needed. Knowledge is the other. Just like when We scout ahead on the trail, We may be able to SEE a danger, but if We do not know what that danger entails, it is of no real use. Let me see the letter once more. We'll try to see if there are any of the things you mentioned."

[Lanharath pours over the document, intent on finding all the information that Pok gave him if it is there to be found.

[sblock=Perception Check]SWEEET! With Pok's help, Lanharath rolls a 38 perception check to determine the authenticity of the document. (Thanks Pok, that's higher than I can get on my own with a nat 20 ^_^) [/sblock]

You believe (with Pok's help) that his document is no forgery. Also, the scroll case looks like it could have been cracked open during the rockslide.

Lan lets everyone know that the document is most definitely not a forgery. He also points out the fact that the scroll case is cracked and could have simply opened up during the rockslide.

"I understand your concerns, Sheeva. My own parents had to go into exile from there tribe as the Flame was hunting them, not making the difference between shifter and lycanthrope. I wish not that to repeat, but the Flame itself is not like Khyber, but some follower of the Flame are too extremist, pushing a concept of there church to an extreme that wasn't intended by the Flame itself. Their faith have turn into zeal and have blinded them." replies River.

"For now, we have time to digest that information and think about it. Let's bury that corpse and lead it to the Host. The Host will be able to judge him like the followers of Khyber."

"I did not hear River say that Pok. Maybe it was the mind sorcery again. In any case, this is a mystery, so I think we should keep on our guard nonetheless."

"Zealots are zealots, regardless of their reasons. But I agree, let's bury this poor fellow and move on. I dislike this place." Sheeva says, rubbing her arms as if she were cold.

Valahad looks over the body and relay his information to River to speak aloud. "There are small stab wounds all over the body as well. They were well aimed, very precise in what they were doing. Many bones are broken as well, from the rockslide. Perhaps this person was killed first, and then the body was tried to be covered up by the rockslide? I couldn't find a definite cause of death, but the body has been here just over a week."

Valahad does his best to start digging a shallow grave, but he adds to River, "Can you determine what the killing blow was?"

Before putting the corpse into his grave of fortune, River take a look at it. I can only come to the same conclusion than you. It's hard to tell. Such wound made the knife rarely kill outright but the internal bleeding it may cause can kill. But it's hard to tell if he die from it or if the rockslide kill him while he was still alive. I would need to open the body to have a better look, but we have no time.

Once the corpse is buried, River make a prayer for the man to lead his soul to the Host if it is still lost. The Host will know what to do with the poor man soul.

[SBLOCK=OOC]Heal on corpse (1d20+15=23) Same result as Valahad...[/SBLOCK]

Feall has little to contribute to the current discussion, but keeps his ears tuned to the conversation as he scans the party's surroundings with all his other senses.
