I think we had a miscommunication on where Sheeva wanted to be.

"Once they get there, the three sneaky people will sneak forward with Pok hiding behind the camp, and Feall/Sheeva taking hidden positions on the opposite side of the main trail from the path."

I did not mean that Feall and Sheeva should be on opposite sides of the trail or path from each other.

I envisioned this from the earlier description of a path off the side of the trail as:

where | is the main trail and - is the side path.

If Feall is at H20, I was expecting Sheeva to be at H19.

Can she start somewhere in that location, next to Feall?

Surprise over, Round 1 begins

Feall waits patiently, gauging his attack to coincide with Sheeva's. When the time is right he flicks a shroud over his target and lets a Firestorm crossbow bolt fly at the tentacled foe, but it seems to sense the bolt coming and sidesteps the projectile.

With both groups spread out so far, Sheeva's plan to ambush seems a bit in tatters. So, she decides to save her more powerful attacks for later and concentrate on getting the foes to approach. The blast from her arcane spell slams into the large creature and the tentacled foe. The large foe roars as his back is scorched by the blast.

You recognize the stories that are told to children throughout Eberron to keep them from misbehaving. The stories of what lurks just beneath the surface of the world, in the realm of Khyber. Foulspawns are corruptions of humanoids, changed by the daelkyr in ages past, the large one is a dolgarr, created from bugbears, and the tentacled ones are known as dolgaunts, twisted hobgoblins, they usually lead the "lesser" foulspawn. There are rumours that the dolgaunts can drain the vitality from those they grab with their tentacles. You know that dolgarrs are immune to fear effects, but neither have any vulnerabilities that you're aware of.

[SBLOCK=OOC]River delay, he has nothing to do before the baddies act. They are too far anyway and River won't go into melee. He is a support character, not an active one in combat.[/SBLOCK]
 

Kortauhk looks at the gnome and releases a sigh of relief.

"Good! Someone hear Kortauhk! Please untie Kortauhk so Kortauhk find sword and armor and shield and other stuffs and... wait, where mean pink guys with long back arms? They beat Kortuahk and tie him up! Who is you? Me be Kortauhk."
 

Actions TBP here (as soon as I figure out what Feall's doing :p). OK, I think I've got it.

Feall drops another shroud onto the tentacled horror, then creeps into the shadows of a tree somewhat closer to the monsters, dropping his crossbow and drawing his falchion.
