Adventurer's Vault Excerpt: Airships

Wow, I really really like this :D. I often use airships and love steampunk settings. This is a perfect drop into almost any game I run.

I have gone from "indifferent" about Adventure's Vault to "I'm intrigued about your theories and would like to subscribe to your newsletter"

Might we see more technology (even if its magically driven)? Guns and gunpowder? Canons?

I love me some airships!

So much so that even a movie as crappy as The Mummy 2 was made slightly better by the fact that it had an airship...

I think though, an out of control ship should have rules for random direction change too... (Easy enough to house rule)

Yeah, that was my thought, too.

Awsome, I love it. If people do not have rules for seperate locations, it means vechicles do not need rules for different hit locations, but the AC does seem absudrly low, though that might just be the base model, I can easily see armoured ones flying around with far higher, or more manuvarable ones with less HP but more AC and REF.

Hmm now I really want to design a steam punk setting for a 4e game.

Well, airships are huge... so it would be hard to miss really... I wonder if there will be something that replies on the pilot to boost it... Like if you have a certain feat you can add half your level or soemthing.

I'm a big enough FF geek to really enjoy this particular preview.

Thought I can't help but wonder how many members of the "4e is too video-gamey" crowd are rolling their eyes at this. Because even though its a fantasy-genre stand-by, it's become part and parcel of the FF series, right up there with Chocobos, Moggles, and guys named Cid.

That would work, or one with armour plates of heavy wood, or metal that would slow it down, but make it harder to hit and more resilient.

Though I do like your idea of feats for people who make use of the airships better than others.

But with a simple design like this I think it would be fairly easy to develop other kinds of airships using that one as a base model.

Though Im not sure how you would work cannons.

I suspect virtually none. Airships have appeared throughout all the editions that that particular complaint has long sinced sailed. (heh)

No need to even hint at 'edition warz' in this thread, thanks.
