I'm sure this is a frequent topic, but I haven't seen a post in the recent threads...
Any advice on mapping software? What I'm looking for is something to design my campaign world in, have maps of towns linked into in, and have notes associated with objects. I'm not too worried about dungeon maps. Layers are also important so I can hide some goodies. My preference is to have software that can quickly generate a few continents where I can slap down some mountains, rivers, etc. I can then go in and do the detailed stuff. I bought Campaign Cartographer eight years ago and became frustrated in the first eight hours and quit. Fractal Mapper (per a Gen Con demo) seems easy to use, but from some comments on the web, it looks like it may lack the ability to work details (e.g., the river has to go north by a certain city, but graphics might not work).
Any input would be much appreciated!
