Advice on one of those mini-dishwashers?

Alright, so I can't stand doing dishes by hand anymore, and I'm thinking about getting one of those little dishwashers you hook up to your kitchen faucet. Can anyone relate their experiences with these types of things? Do they work?

My girlfriend just purchased one recently. She said she found a lot of useful material in considering the purchase on the net.

My observations:
1. Difficult/impossible to form a proper (leak proof) seal between the hose attachment and the faucet.

2. Water inside is very hot- good! (You'll be healthier that way) But I'd be a tad careful of melty plastic. Dunno for sure on this.

3. Uses little water- appears to be less than 1 sinkfull a load.

4. Only holds, say, dinner dishes for two, a couple cereal bowls from the morning, and some glasses.

5. Don't accidentally leave your sink drain plugged up while running.

6. Most net reviews say they only last one to two 1/2 years.

7. Just uses a little dishwashing detergent.

8. By all appearances, is cleaning well.

9. Yes, works. Yes, worth it.

As a repair man in Santa Cruz county (actually, parts guy, but you get my drift), I would say that it would be worth it for all the reasons listed above, but there is one thing to keep in mind. If something DOES go wrong with it, you will have to figure out who services it in your area. Most places do not and you might have to resort sending it to the factory for service, which means you are back to washing dishes by hand again... If you want a name, I would lean with Danby. They are small and easy to move around, can fit pretty well, but you should call service centers up to see if they can do repair, just to cover your bases.

Other than that, good luck to you on your purchase! If you need any more advice, feel free to let me know!

Great! I'm so glad to hear these things actually work--I was pretty skeptical. Anyone know about the different brands (what sucks, what lasts a long time, etc.)?
