[AE] Witchblades and SR

Witchblades are created through a spell-like ability...are they vulnerable to SR?

In particular, the mind blade is described as being made of "psionic energy" If the other witchblades are not vulnerable to SR...would the mind blade be an exception?

In general, effects that are called into being by a spell or spell-like ability are not subject to spell resistance after they've been created, especially when those things are physical (or semi-physical) objects. Take Fire Shield, for example. No spell resistance applies because the effect's target is the caster, but the spell affects anyone who touches or attacks the caster. The effect is already in place, and so it does not trigger spell resistance.

Likewise, a silence spell or darkness spell are in-place effects that don't trigger spell-resistance. Conjurations almost never trigger spell-resistance, and the witch is essentially conjuring a sword. There are a few exceptions to this rule, notably a few of the Wall spells (eg. Fire, Ice), but in general SR only applies to area-effect spells that have an instantaneous effect or call a dangerous zone into being (eg. Storm of Vengeance), or to spells that target the creature with SR directly.

The short answer is, probably not. The description of each sword says that it "acts in all ways like a normal sword, except" for its special power. If you really want a good answer, go over to the boards at www.montecook.com and ask the AE experts there.
