I was skeptical when it was first announced in a press release many months before. I'm still skeptical.

But if there are some players who wants to beat the crap out of the Talibans in a RPG, then more power to them.

In fact, I'm surprised the video game companies are not jumping on the idea (players vs. the Taliban or Al Qaeda), like a Wolfenstein 3D version of the Al Qaeda Compound at Bora Bora.

Actually it would have been a good game, but the package and the name of the game leave something to be desired at this time.

You know, while I agree it is too SOON for this, I guess I don't see the inherent problem...

We (as a country) play WW2 flight sims about the war in the pacific, despite the events at Pearl Harbor...

We play games set in Vietnam, despite the controversy over that whole affair...

There are games set during Desert Storm, despite the fact that (from a tactical point of view), that wasn't a "fair fight"... (Mind you, I don't care about "fair" in war, but a lot of people I know always make the point...)...

So really... what is the true problem here? I agree its too soon, but I don't really see any real PROBLEM here...

*shrug*

Timing.

We played the aforementioned games based on past wars with US military involved that happened at least 30 years ago.

Ooops no politics here.

I just think it is poor taste to make a game of such a serious (and contraversial subject while real people are risking thier lives) It is bad enough that someone would make a game of Vietnam (again an unclear war). That is bad, this is worse.
