After action debriefings

Does your group discuss the game after playing a session (either right after, or in the following days)? Do you discuss what happened, what went wrong, what went right, what could be done better, what you never want to do again, etc.?

Yep, we usually do, but it's more of a DM <-> player exchange, not so much the players discussing among themselves. That happens during the breaks :D.

If we finish early, I like to try to do it right after the session. I'm constantly trying to balance the issue of too much combat versus too little, so I try to check in with the players to find out if they liked the balance during that particular session. We also chat about the "cinematic" feel (or, lack thereof) of the session. The players also try to give tips about my portrayal of NPCs and such.

We also discuss it between session on our message boards, although truth be told, I usually only get one player, at most two, who participate.

Cool - In just two and a half years, I've reached 2% of Crothian's total post count. :)

Would one of those players be...Wil Wheaton? :)

Oh yeah! We've had hour long debriefing sessions after a 6-8 hour game. All of us are still in our jackets and boots, backpacks slung across our backs and they just keep talking about game events. It's pretty cool, as sometimes I can sit back and hear how excited they were about the game events...after the events.

My group rocks...capital first class nerds, but nerds that rock!

That's in the game in which I play (well, one of the games in which I play). The game I was referring to above is the one that I run as a DM and Wil doesn't play in that one (we play on the weekends and he usually has tons of book signings and things to do on the weekends). I play with Wil in a weeknight group every other Wednesday.

How'd you know I played with Wil?

What I do is write up a short (1 page) summary of what happened during the game along with any segue. That way, they can read the summary at the start of the next session to job their memory of what is going on.

Secondly, I have a survey that I hand out every couple of months. It's at:
http://www.freewebs.com/hedgehobbit/player_survey.doc

I make in an anonimous survey so the players don't feel the need to not hurt my feelings.

I read Wil's column in Dungeon where he commented on helping one of the players in his group playtest The Q. Aristocrat and-lo and behold-you are the writer of said book.
Pretty cool! About as close to a celebrity in my group is MEG Hal. Wil has a connection to Start Trek-the only thing remotely Star Trek-like about Hal is that he has the mannerisms of a Klingon. :D
