Age of Worms thoughts?

what is Koalas?

Anyhow our party is just began "the library of last resort" last night. they are enjoying the story. There are a lot of dungeon crawls which make some builds less optimal. There isn't much in the way of role playing opportunities (it seems like the Savage tide takes greater effort for this). And like others have said, expect a high death toll. There are some nasty encounters.

The story is great, you get a real feel that the party is part of something epic. I have raved and raved about this. while the players definetly like the story they wish that the encounters weren't so tough. Being that this is my first foray into high level play it's hard for me to judge what to modify.

Also maybe it's because our group is effcient or what...but we will finish this path in less than a year. I'm not cutting corners or glossing over stuff...We just get to business.

EDIT: oh yeah, I agree you'll need to tone done some encounters if your only using the core 3 books.

One thing my GM used was basing the town in the early modules on the tv show Deadwood. (Its possible he got the idea from these forums, but I'm not sure since I am a more recent addition to the boards.) As a player-- and a fan of the show-- I really grokked the set up, so much so that I was disappointed when the modules took us away from there.

Today, I have about 0% interest in finishing up AoW, but I'd jump right back into a campaign about the low intrigue and rustic lawlessness of that mining town.

I'm not sure if this is a spoiler or not, but I'll blank it out just the same. Its something my group still says when confronted by an encounter that doesn't make much sense to us:

"Who puts an octopus in a dungeon?"

When I play again it will be with a new group. As much as I really like the AoW, it is really gross. It may turn off new players. ST is shaping up to be a much more palatable adventure path.

Ok, this might come across as a stupid question but why do you think AoW is gross?
