Ageism in gaming

I've always gamed with a mixed-age group, as my first group was comprised mostly of college-aged gamers but the host and hostess were both in their late thirties/early forties. Our current gaming group has ages from 30 to 50, with about half of us around the 40 mark. Some of us have kids now interested in D&D, but for reasons similar to those expressed by Buttercup above, we won't be adding them to our weekly table until they are at least college aged.

Why thank you. :)
I didn't know what to do. I was roleplaying an evil wizard, but that guy was actually disgusting... and he didn't have to murder any babies for it. Props!

When I do evil I'm like 8 bit theatre's Garland. Being Evil doesn't mean you can't be nice :)

Of course, my players know this, and hence there is a bit more moral ambiguity in my games... but less truly hated villains, which reduces cinematics...oh well...

I game primarily online. My one RL game, I am the youngest player, while the rest of the players are in their 30's. I have no problem with this, and neither do they.

I game online quite a bit, and most of the people I game with are at least half a decade older than me. Sure, there's the occassional 17 or 18 year-old... but they're relatively rare.

Me? I'm 16. Though I admit that I am ageist, as well... most of my friends are around my age (they run from 15 to 19), and I don't really like to game with them. They prefer a hack'n'slash type of game to decent RPing, and I can't stand a lack of roleplaying. That might just be the group, though.

I like my online gaming. Much more RP-friendly. :)
