Agianst the Giants

At NC Game Day last year (I think), we played G1 under Henry using all the old 1e rules and the pre-gen characters. It was a blast.

Myself, I don't mind if they update the modules and modify them with the times. I don't always enjoy the same books and tv shows I did twenty years ago, and the same goes for my modules.

So publish it and sell it. I'd buy a redone version of all their conversions to date.

Hrm. Wonder why they went with Castle Ravenloft when there are so many other options to choose from, such as Against the Giants, but I agree, I'd buy it, though probably not the first two. Unlike other hardcore gamers, I never went through those and thus don't have the memories to back up my interest in those adventures.

Ravenloft is the only one that's supported its own game line and probably has the best name recognition outside the old fogey crowd.

Hopefully the (probable) success of the new Ravenloft supermodule will prompt them to dust off some of the classics.

Yeah, but still - if you are gonna redo the map why not make it in the 3.x default of 5' per box?
Because it is unneeded, most times the map is being redrawn onto a battlemat and the DM is the only one that sees the 1 square=10' map. Even if you print the actual out on a poster[or three], just tell the players to always have thier minis touching one corner of a square.

I might do one square = 15' or 20' with hill giants resized to huge.

Half orc barbarian... is that the most common dead PC out there?

It is not needed, it is just more convenient and is easier/faster to transfer to the battlemat if you don't have to convert it on the fly.

I said it was annoying, not game-breaking. :P

What the heck is with their 1 box = 10 feet thing? Grrrrrr!

I find that so annoying!
I love it. A far better scale - easier to see and still fits on an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper (especially when dealing with giants).

Glad they stuck with it.

For one thing you'd have to drastically reduce the number of giants or drastically increase the level of the PCs, otherwise it's guaranteed TPK.

I played in a 3.5 Steading of the Hill Giants and it wasn't watered down at all.
...
Our level was around 11th or 12th.
Wasn't the original for 8th?

I would love an updated Against the Giants. I hope this is the next classic release.

Same here. I think it would be awesome if they did it. Although I doubt it would be a print version.

That's probably why we survived then :)

So, I wonder if they'll modify it (as already discussed) in order to keep it around that level, or just make it for higher level characters? They'd have to make some serious modifications to make it work for a party of 8th level characters.
