Ah, the joys of medical procedures

Don't be nervous, the nurses generally don't explain things too much for fear of being perceived as doing the doctor's job, or contradicting something the doctor might tell you on the 12th.

and thanks for the reminder that I need to call my doctor for a refill of my prescription for acid reflux...

The doctor's office called today with some news about the procedures. They are adding more medications for me to take (something called Zegrid?), which is supposed to help with the pain in the evening. The results of the biopsies are back and they are benign as far as cancer goes, but there is abnormal swelling which the doctor will talk to me about when I see him on the 12th. So I guess it's good news in a way. I wish I knew a little more. His nurse wasn't very helpful in explaining things so I'm a bit more more nervous than I was before. :(
I'm glad to hear your biopsy was negative. Mine was too. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that the swelling isn't really anything to be concerned about. If you want, we can swap finger-crossing for each other - I see my oncologist on the 7th. :)

Let us know the names of all the meds you are/have been on - they make great PC names. :p

Seriously, I really hope the pain subsides and you can get a good night's sleep. And all the best for a speedy recovery.

Good thoughts headed your way from the UK.

I somehow missed this thread when it was originally posted but I hope you're on the mend and feeling better, Steve. I'm looking forward to seeing you at GenCon in a couple months so hang in there.

I'd think they would make better dragon names given their length and difficulty to pronounce.

- zegerid
- aciphex
- sucralfate
- darvocet
- flovent

Okay, maybe not the last two... :)

Still having most of the original symptoms despite taking the meds. This week has been one of the not-so-good weeks. I've been paying very close attention to what I've been eating and I'm starting to think it may be leaning toward Celiac given that I am seeing a definite correlation between eating products with wheat and feeling so terrible. I really hope I am wrong, but I won't get test results back until I see the N.P. on the 28th.
