Ahsoka - SPOILERS

Something to remember though is some of us are not hugely steeped in Star Wars lore. I never saw any of the animated Star Wars until much later. So, for me, this Ahsoka is the standard. Well, the one first introduced in Mandalorian anyway.

So we don’t all “know and love” the earlier take.

Disney is not making Star Wars only for those who have followed every single Star Wars product. Some of us judge what’s being offered entirely on its own merits rather than how much it follows earlier materials.
Preach.

Honestly, that's why I found the Acolyte not to my taste. I'm not steeped in Star Wars stuff. I never read any of the novels (I might have read the Heir to the Empire ones when they first came out, but, that's like thirty years ago), didn't really watch the animated stuff (wasn't available where I lived) and honestly have really only watched the movies. Never read any of the comic books or graphic novels. Never played the game and I think the only Star Wars video game I ever played was Tie Fighter and, again, that was like 30 years ago.

So all the deep cut lore stuff in the Acolyte just flew straight over my head. Coupled with a story that I did not find compelling, I couldn't even watch it all the way through. Just totally lost interest.

OTOH, I did find Ahsoka really compelling. I liked the story, even if bits and pieces of it were ... well.... not great. :D But, overall? Yeah, it hit the spot for me.

Then again, I didn't mind a lot of the stuff that's apparently bad Star Wars like the Solo movie or Book of Boba Fett.

I liked Solo!

Ahsoka just had too much stupid for me. Like, "i'm going to risk the entire galaxy for one person" level of stupid. I don't care if that is "what her character would do". It was too stupid for me.

Totally get that. For me, it was Acolyte that was my "I don't buy this" level. We all draw different lines in the sand.

Solo was pretty good, and basically had no references that weren’t from the films (OTOH, it had a lot of references to the films) except the credits scene which must have come across as WTF (and honestly it wasn’t a good choice). I wish it had done better and we’d got to see more of Alden Ehrenreich as Han, he was pretty great.

I'd forgotten all about The Acolyte. It was only as I was reading this thread that I realised I never finished watching it.
