Airwalkrr's Greyhawk D&D 3.5 - Maure Castle OOC

The hound archon/astral deva is the most like combo for Mayaheine. I may find something more fitting in the Book of Exalted Deeds or another monster manual though. I'll let you know as soon as I get around to it.

ok since it seems that people are getting the last of their details finished up is it time for a Rogues Gallery yet?

When you say greyhawk do you just mean the basic 3.5 rules or the actual 2.x setting (5 continents, castle greyhawk, etc.)?

When I have time for a final review of characters (probably by the end of this week), I will put up a RG. The final review will be pretty thorough, so make sure you dot your Is and cross your Ts.

And the Greyhawk setting is per the LGG. The campaign year is 594 CY, which is 3 years after the LGG, but very little has changed in that short time. For those who are more familiar with the AD&D setting, the main changes are the end to the Greyhawk Wars (which happened around 585 IIRC) and the splitting of the Great Kingdom of Aerdi into Ahlissa (south) and the North Kingdom (north). The ruins of Maure Castle are located between the Domain of Greyhawk and the Duchy of Urnst. The area is something of a no-man's land, beset by monsters and wilderness. The Bright Desert to the south is claimed by Rary the Traitor, who slew two of the members of the Circle of Eight during the signing of the Pact of Greyhawk (which ended the Greyhawk Wars).

I'm reasonably sure, that mine is correct so far (sans background still, though, but I will see that this is changed soon).

I have left the Summon Monster VI spell in and the Planar Ally spell in the list of spells to consider for now.

Bye

The bright desert sounds like a nice place to be from. I had been thinking about one of the other continents, but closer is better. I'll try to dig up some regional maps and things for some more specifics.

One nice thing about Maure Castle is that it is close to a variety of terrain types. Mountains, plains, marsh, desert, river basin, coastal, forest, and hills are all within 100 miles of the location. The only thing it is missing is a tundra.

I was actually thinking of having Kal-fen from the desert as well.. I'm envisioning him as a semi dark skinned man born and raised in the harsh desert climates..... his resistances to fire and acid would make sense with this region choice to an extent....

The region around Maure Castle is one that is rich in history, the Bright Desert as well. The human cultures; the Flan, the Suel. The ancient ruins beyond the Maure Castle itself, those of Fallen Sulm. All good grist for backgrounds.

Any and all of this of course is subject to Airwalkrr's rule as DM but It's fun to read nonetheless :)

Wow the LGG book was boring  just page after page of dual columned text. I'm still looking for some kind of more modern map of the lands. Any idea which book has more than a hand drawn continent with no reference points?

But Roshan is definitely shaping up to be from a Suloise tribe in the bright desert that still followed Lendor for generations. Believing that all his lesser children would eventually fall by the wayside. They abandoned the world for the desert, like their god, where they were entrusted with the ancient lost secrets of the ashworm dragoon for their unfailing faith and service to Lendor.

Flying high above the abbrasive sand would definitley be one way avoid many of the threats of the desert. It would also have been a good way to let Kal-fen have seen Roshan and Ulan from a safe distance as his brightly polished plate armor could be seen miles away from the air. That and the whole wormsign thing ;p Maybe they met fighting a sand dragon or something cool like that?
