Alignment Question - Can a monk not be lawful? Can a barbarian be lawful?

How about this.

Lawful Barbarian:
The Lawful Barbarian, unlike his chaotic cousin, is not a ravaging beast who gives into his deepest emotions to power his rage. Instead of giving in to their emotions they focus them like a sharp blade. The Lawful rage draws its power from the increased focus and pressure a barbarian puts on his mind. He releases the energy in short bursts when needed.

Sure.
In fact, I've always thought that the Monk was a lawful barbarian. The barbi gets rage and uncanny dodge, the Monk has channeled this into enhanced unarmed damage and a wisdom bonus to AC that's even better than uncanny dodge (at least if you have a higher wisdom!). The barbi has a natural +10 speed, the monk has figured out why, and gets periodic enhancement bonuses to speed...

And I don't really have a problem with allowing them to stack (multiclass with each other), as long as there's a good enough story there.

On the other hand, back to the setting, I still say that it makes MORE sense to encourage grey while not encouraging extremes, therefore to allow non lawful monks (possibly restricting them to non-chaotic though, for flavor and consistency) while being less likely to allow (and hence encourage less grey) lawful barbarians.
