OK, the thing is, as it stands, if you apply a 1/2-something template to say, a human, you're basically using one and a half beings' qualities, abilities etc.: Human (1) + Half-Thing (1/2) = 1 1/2.
So anyway, what I'd like is to have *all* half-races (half-elf, half-orc, half-human, half-dwarf etc.) as templates, and *only* as templates.
Then, if someone wants to make what's commonly referred to as a 'half-elf' character (i.e., half-elf, half-human), they just take a 'no-race' baseline (no qualities, abilities, bonuses, penalties etc.), and add the half-elf and half-human templates.
Obviously, no more than two halves for each whole being.
Make any sense to at least someone out there? If so, I could really do with some help making them balanced and logical, especially in the case of all those LA +0 templates.
Some basic guidelines are needed, I think - a kind of formula, perhaps. But I'm not sure quite where to begin. However, I'll post more as it comes to me.
