D&D 5E All a single or thematic racial party

For a good number of races, at least the core 4, this is more feasible in the current edition of D&D than in any previous edition. A few others beyond that could still be considered races where you could make a party where you cover your basic tank-DPS-healer paradigm or even, as 4E put it, Striker, Defender, Leader, Controller, without anyone feeling too over or under powered as a result of the racial adjustments and abilities.... but....

Well, not all races. There are some that weren't designed nearly well enough to allow for this.

It's not an all-single race party, but in the current campaign, fully half the party I play with (myself, the Lore Bard/Eldritch Knight, the UA Ranger, and the Oathbreaker Paladin) went half-elf, and there was one session awhile back where we were the only people who could make it.
the guy playing the Lore Bard/Eldritch Knight likes to call that particular session "the Misadventures of the Half-Elf half-party"

I probably would have gone with "Inglorious Bastards". :)
