almost time for Sopranos! [SPOILERS]

GlassJaw

Hero
About 45 minutes until the last episode...

I'm really looking forward to it. I fully expect a shocker ending but I really think they are going to leave things open (or at least leave enough characters alive) for a movie down the road.

You should put spoilers in the title so people can talk about it. :D

Well there weren't any spoilers when I posted it. :)

I'll update.

Although Sopranos is definitely a must-watch on Sun night. It's virtually impossible not to get any spoilers if you read the web, listen to the radio, etc.

Now that the spoiler tag has been added, one theory I heard was that since Phil was killed in front of his family, Tony was going to get the same treatment. I don't buy that since the NJ and NY familes had an agreement. Tony and NJ could go after Phil but NY wouldn't give them Phil's location.

Another thought I had was that it seemed like things were starting to go well for Tony and his family: Phil is out of the way (although he's going to have some potential legal troubles), AJ looks like he's getting his life on track, Meadow has a good job lined up after her parents weren't happy with her dropping out of med-school. I wonder if you were supposed to infer that something bad was going to go down in the diner.

I think Chase just wanted to mess with people. He didn't want an elaborate ending. This was just another episode in their lives. Nothing more, nothing less. There was nothing in this show that would lead you to believe it was ending, and I think that's the point. Not saying I'm happy with it necessarily, but I think I understand why it was done.

Building off of Glassjaw's thoughts, I thought the ending showed very well what life was like in the Sopranos household. Even a quiet night out for the family has the potential to turn into a bloodbath.

I hated it at first, but I am liking it more and more. Life goes on without a tidy little ending.

I see it like this:

You want to empathize with Tony Soprano?

Fine, here's just 5 minutes of what his life is like-- all day, every day.

That ought to cure us.

The Wikipedia article on the episode points out:

Tony's lawyer's attempts to coax ketchup out of the bottle recalls the Heinz ad featuring the song "Anticipation" -- a feeling well known to Sopranos fans. The lawyer never gets his ketchup.

Talk about foreshadowing!!! :)
