Alright well I know there's a SW II thread...

Come to think of it the Emperor didnt even get a great death. He died from a fall that as we saw in AOTC's just about any Jedi would have easily survived. I guess to a degree a Sith Lord gives up some of his physical powers as he gains more ability to cloud the mind.

Actually, the effective fall for Obi-Wan was pretty small. The angle of the shot made it tough to see, but the speeder was descending almost as fast as Obi-Wan was when he landed on it. Therefore the effective fall for him was insignificant. As for Anakin jumping out of the speeder, that one's tougher. He didn't actually hit Zam's speeder head on, so it wasn't an issue of falling. He grabbed it as it flew by him, so what should have happened is his arms should have been ripped out of their sockets while the rest of him kept falling. Perhaps the same Jedi muscle reinforcement that allows incredible jumps also allowed him to keep his arms attached.

Sorry, that's probably more than you wanted to know, but I have a pet peeve about that particular issue. They did a great job dealing with Obi-Wan's fall, but really dropped the ball on Anakin's IMO. I don't mind breaking physics as long as you break it CONSISTENTLY.

All that aside, the Emperor actually fell, and it had a lot of significance, both plotwise and emotional, that Boba Fett's death surely didn't.

You want bad physics?

When Obi-Wan falls with the rope around him while fighting Jango Fett. When the rope goes taunt there is no give in it at all. A fall hurts from the sudden deceleration. So when Obiwan was yanked to an instant stop by the rope he took as much force to his arms and shoulders as he would have if he had hit the ground right there on his feet.

That HURTS a lot.

So my guess is the Jedi are very proficient in using TK to effectively break their falls.

Indeed. But I haven't seen an action movie in 5 years that DIDN'T make that exact same mistake, so I tend to just ignore it now. Dangling people from a rope is standard operating procedure nowadays, and the more violently you can get them there, the better. At least both Spiderman and Star Wars actually had a REASON to get somebody on a rope.

My second favorite is the conveniently placed dumpster. Apparently people in the movies need LOTS of dumpsters, and they're always filled with VERY soft and cushiony garbage.

Yep and that rope looked very thin, the kind that would cut off fingers if wrapped around your hand.

Your right about the dumpsters. They are always full of the cleanest stuff too. A hero sure wouldnt want to fall into a dumpster full of the garbage that normally comes out of my house. ;)
