Alright, who's playing post-apocalypse?

Post-apoc or not?

Funny you should ask...I started working on this new campaign last weekend.

I'm planning a Modern/Future/Apocalypse game for our tabletop group based on the classic Seventies dystopia movies: Logan's Run, Planet of the Apes, THX-1138, The Omega Man, Soylent Green, Zardoz and some lesser-known genre movies like Sleeper and The Last Man on Earth. All of the characters will start in The City of Domes of the 'Loganverse', but the search for Sanctuary will lead them to some very different places indeed...

I would love to, but they keep falling appart in the planing stages.

If someone ever started a Post Apoc PbP game, I'm sure they'd get a few visitors.

Cool.
What's Zardoz like?

I said "No", but that should be qualified.

I have played in PA games in the past -- Metamorphosis/Alpha, Aftermath and Morro Project. Also, quite sadly for all concerned, as I grew up in the 1970s, I read a lot of literature concerning the probable outcome of nuclear attacks. This combination utterly soured any interest in PA games for ever and ever, amen.

Too many useful mutations, too much Grand Heroism in the face of probable annihilation, too much of the reality of the situation seeping into gaming enviroments for my taste. I take the concept far to seriously to have a jokey game about it (and all PA games that I have seen to date take the subject far too lightly for my tastes).

I'm sorry. Not really trying to rain on anyone's parade. It's just the era and the way in which I was raised... :(

I recently ran an Alternity Tangents game that led into a post-apocalyptic parallel world. It ran out of steam, but I hope to start up again soon.

The world was adapted to a parallel modern era from a fantasy-PA setting that I built up many years ago, retaining some of the fantastic demonic-invasion elements and translating others to modern-era equivalents.

I would like to run/play in a PA campaign. I got a lot on my plate though, and it'll take a little convincing to get my players to do so. I tend to run fairly grim and bleak games, and I somewhat empathize with Wombat, and do not care for much humor in this sort of subject matter. I would want it to be hard-hitting, and BLEAK. Perhaps far too much to run for too long...
