alt. Dragon Disciple PrC?

True, Im thinking that the Saves and BAB are fine for how they are already, not over powered, but not underpowered :) always good.

BTW, for the most part, all the tables will look very similar, with only small adjustments for abit lower stat bonuses, and such.
How about the Enlagrement at 5th level, and Wings at 9th level, should those wait till Dragon Apotheosis?
I think the Hit Die increase should stay the same, or be moved up only a level or so.

What about the idea about giving them a Spell progression of their own.

Come'on people, I know that atleast some of you have ideas.
I challenge you to state them, if nothing more than to say that the original Dragon Disciple PrC is plenty fine the way it is. I jsut want feedback!! :)

Amethyst, Blue, Brown, Crystal, and Green are all the same for ability increases.

Bronze, Emerald, Silver, and Topaz are all the same.

And it seems everyone else gets their own.

A spell progression of their own would be better than what they have now. Enlargement should wait until 5th or 6th, and Wings should appear when Apotheosis is reached.

Changes to the DD in my campgain:

Drop "enlargement" (but still allow wings)
Drop bonus spells
Add "+1 caster level" at levels 1,3,5,7,9

I have a player who is now Sor6/DD5, and her character has worked quite well -- much better balanced than the T&B version, IMHO.

Well, since most people think that it's a major benefit, dropping it helps balance the spell progression. To be honest, though, I think the enlargement is at least as much of a hindrance as anything. In return for a bump in damage (and possibly 10-ft reach, depending on one's interpretation), you get -1 to attacks and armor class. That's significant enough, IMO -- but the real price is the increase in cost for clothing/armor/weapons/food/etc., and the "role-playing" difficulties from being 8 or 9 ft tall in normal human or demi-human society. In some games, I suppose those factors don't come into play, but that's a relevant price in my campaign.

Finally, the half-dragon template doesn't increase one's size, so I see no reason for this class to do so.

Good point nharwell, but I figure it goes with the Roleplaying, if you can pull it off, sure, if not, ohwell. There also should be cost increases for having wings. Or do you guys figure that differently? Just allow your characters to cut little holes in their clothes? :)

I do think that they should gain their own spell progression, not just add +1 to caster level.
I was also thinking that basing what spells they got in the limited spell choices would be based on the type of dragon base you chose. It makes sense, to me anyway.

Would the bonuses gained from growing Large, make the DD PrC unbalanced?
I personally dont mind if the Enlargement ability was droped, and the Wings occures at Dragon Apotheisis, whether your of Large size or not.

I still would like to know what others think of giving the DD its own spell progression, and basing the progression on the Dragon bases Spell casting type.

I don't particularly think that the bonuses from Enlargement would make the Dragon Disciple unbalanced. Many other PrC have abilities that give them far more power than Enlargement grants.
