Pathfinder 1E Am i going to screw up my sorcerer?

I am playing a 11th level dragon sorcerer. At level 13 i am going to replace one of my old feats with martial weapon training, focus the great sword for my 13th level feat and use magic and blade.

Is this going to get me killed? can a sorcerer battle on the front lines without leather armor? if i use a great sword can i let go with one hand to cast my spell (or do somatic components)? basically im asking if this is going to hurt me more than it is worth?

I already have toughness so i have HP and i can use mage armor to boost my AC when i go up but i want to be able to slice and dice as well as blast fire balls!

I played a sorcerer/dragon disciple with a single level of fighter that used a greatsword. It was amazing. He could do incredible amounts of damage with power attack, and his high str made up for any loss of BAB from the sorcerer levels. The natural armor helped give him a good AC. He could start out a fight buffing the whole party with haste, and then demolish the enemy in following turns. If needed, he could also use things like mirror image, greater invisibility, and so on.

At level 9 (ftr 1/sorc 4/DD 5) he had a Str of 30 (including a belt with +4 str), and his attack bonus with his +3 greatsword was +17/+12 with power attack (+18/+18/+13 using haste), and he dealt 2d6 +24 damage per hit! It was brutal. And if he needed to, he could use his claws and bite to great effect as well, such as when grappling.

You might want to check out the Abjurant Champion. It's pretty cheesy but fighter/mage builds don't work that well in 3.5 - I'm not sure you'd be any better off than a regular sorcerer. (Though I forget what the prerequisites are.)

I should point out that I have never played in a group that was strict enough that you could not cast with a weapon or wand/staff/rod in one hand. But maybe in Pathfinder Society play, someone would harsh that buzz.

Might I recommend spending the feat to buy Exotic Weapon Proficiency: Bastard Sword, if that exists (sorry still learning pathfinder, still mostly in 3.5). You can wield 2 handed, but release one hand as necessary for spellcasting while only sacrificing a slight damage bonus.

What you trick the blade out with is another matter. My Red Wizard ran around with an Adamantine Bastard Sword +4 Defender, Skillblade with a wand reliquary in the hilt that he usually kept a wand of fireball in. (Skillblade granted proficiency in the weapon, and a clerics BAB)
