Am I the only one?

We've been quite lucky with our baby girl. She only really cries when she's tired or hungry and she has no major health issues. It's funny, before you know you're going to have a child you have all these hopes and ideas of what you want them to be like. Once you find out that you're going to have a baby, you are happy as long as it is healthy.

QFT! My first was a girl and it may sound like a cliche' but honestly she made me a better man. Being a dad, for me, is immensly satisfying.

My wife and I are expecting twins, so unsure when they will actually pop. The due date is July 16th, but that is 40 weeks, and the obst told us 37 weeks is the max and anything from 28 to 37 is likley.
And to cap it all off, yes these will be our first children. So twins to start off with, and they could arrive from end May to end June.

So yes I might have newborns the same week of the release. And the really shirty thing is that the first GenConOz is in my home town in early July. Do you think I will be going to that? Let alone Gen Con Indy?

Out of interest, do either of you know the sex/es of your babies? We didn't find out ours beforehand but most people that we went to birthing classes with did. Personally I liked getting the surprise, even if it did make buying clothes harder.

I wanted to know as soon as possible. I was having a hard time relating to a 'baby', but found it much easier to imagine (and try to mentally prepare for) the arrival of a little person once I knew the gender. My wife didn't have a preference for knowing, and that may be that she is the oldest of her siblings while I am the youngest. She had helped bring up four babies, but I had only ever been around infants in very small doses.

That said, my wife wishes it kept secret and even though I'm not certain she knows what enworld is, I'm not going to divulge anything here.

By all means. I wasn't trying to pry, just curious if you had found out. I learnt during my wife's preganancy that it's generally not a good idea to piss off a hormonal pregnant woman. Not if you value living that is!

17 week mark is today (Wednesday) and the next scan is in 2 weeks and that will be the earliest that we may find out.

I have always been of the opinion that I want it to be a surprise when a child is born. Now it boils down to - do we want to have two names picked out or four? We are having problems picking names we like as it is (have 2 boys already picked out), but deciding on possible girl's names is difficult. The one we like, we recently found out that people I know named their daughter EXACTLY the same first and middle name!

So we will wait and see, if we find out, we find out, if we don't, we don't.

No prying assumed- my message lacked one of these: :p

And naming, yes- one interesting thing about that process is finding out how many people my wife or I know that the other doesn't- so I say 'how about Dakota?' and she says, 'I knew a Dakota, and don't want the association,' and this goes on for dozens of choices, back and forth. Which is kind of unavoidable because if you know (or did know) a Becky or a Sean you may not want to be reminded of that person every time you see the baby!

Even naming one baby knowing the gender has been a challenge- I can't imagine twins and not knowing.

Well my timing is not as exact. As my wife is due early May.
but I will be in the Enworld recomended, 3 month gaming sabatical, when the books come out.
I plan on gettting the books and considering a new campaign, hopefully I will have the time/energy to do so.

It's funny that you are having trouble with girls names. My wife and I came up with about 4-5 girls names we liked. We struggled to get 2 boys names though. The boy name we decided on in the end I really liked but my wife thought it was only ok. Not that it mattered since we had a girl after all that! We must have spent so many hours going through names though.
